Day 2 Halloween

We got up very early as the park would open at 9am again. We had breakfast and went to the Disneyland Park. While we passed the DLH I thought: “Finally the last part of renovation and refurbishment and soon the hotel will be as good as new!”

DLH Renovation

We wanted to start the day again with BTM but the attraction had once again technical difficulties. And so we started with Indiana Jones, Buzz, Star Tours, BTM and POTC before we went to Saloon Mickey.
Before we left the Park to go to the Studios we did Buzz and It’s a small world.
At 1:45pm we entered the studios and did Art of Disney Animation. I just love the 5 minutes movie which they show inside!
When we came out I was very happy to see Mike in the Monsters Inc photo location.
He just looks perfect!

After saying Hello to Mike we left the Studios because it was time for the Halloween Parade at the main park. After the parade we left the park because we wanted to have a rest, and we don’t want to be late for our reservation for the Cape Cod. The reservation was for 6:30pm and when we left our room we saw that even many CM’s had a little make up on their face or even had worn a costume!
I have to add Halloween is not a big think in Germany. And so we were not used to the whole thing, but I liked it right away.
The Cape Cod is a buffet restaurant now. And so we had a little all-you-can-eat.

Try to find the hidden Mickey on my cheesecake!

After dinner we went back to our room because I wanted to become a Vampire! That was harder than we thought! I wanted to use black nail varnish but as I never used that before this was a disaster. I had to take it off because it looked horrible! And it also took more than 30 minutes to put black, red and white make-up to my face. But the result was not bad! And so we went to the park again ready for a great Halloween night.
At 8:30pm we entered the park and I was surprised to see so many people and to see so many guests in disguise!
After soaking up the atmosphere a little bit we did Indiana Jones, Snow White, BTM and Phantom Manor.
At 10:30pm many people were already queuing as the parade would only use Mainstreet for this special event. And so we waited too but this would turn out to be the most horrible Disney experience ever! :sad2:   :scared1:
As you may have heard they used for the 90 minutes until the parade started only one 2 minutes song. And so we heard this stupid song “Happy, happy, happy, happy Halloween let’s all celebrate!” a million times. It was like bodily injury. Many quests started boohing! And then finally the parade starts. That was another big disappointment. It was cheap and not “Disney” at all. And it was very short. But they made 2 ten-minutes stops and so it was a very long and boring parade!
And then at midnight the fireworks stated. But I expected a little bit more. It was the first part of Wishes but with music from the film POTC!

Fireworks

I have seen videos from the other Halloween nights, and this one was by far the most disappointing year!
The only cool thing was to come back to the park after closing time and to see so many people in disguise!
A group of 10 was dressed as Batman characters and anther group of five was dressed as Scooby Doo gang!
The music was also nothing special. I expected something like New Years Eve when they turn Mainstreet into a dance floor with Pop music. But for this night there was a DJ who only played hard Techno Music.
After the fireworks we waited on Mainstreet until the park had cleared a bit. And at 1am they thanked everybody for a great night and asked all quests to leave! And at 1:30 we fall asleep in our lovely hotel beds!
It was a great night, but I think we will not go again for Halloween night! Too many people and nothing special for Halloween night! If we should go again this time of the year we will choose a normal Halloween week without School holidays and Halloween night!

Day 3 and 4 will follow after the Easter weekend!

Being a great fan of food, the cheesecake looks good :lmao:
will they have the villains parade etc. for this years halloween?
regards
P.

I spotted the hidden Mickey. What's my prize :goodvibes ;)

Disappointed to hear about your experience as Halloween has always been on our must do list.

Don't get me wrong! Halloween is great! And we will go again for Halloween season but we will avoid the Halloween night.

I don't know about the parade for this season! Has anyone heard anything about a parade for Halloween? :confused3

your photos are really good...thanks for sharing xx

oh it sounds great, thank you for sharing your trip, we are going in october and the halloween stuff should have started i think by then we are throughly looking forward to it ...

what was the weather like for you ???

That is such a disappointment Marcus, as you say previous years have been spectacular, my particular favourite was the year they used Phantom Manor for the soiree I would love to be there if they repeated it, but otherwise we too found Hallowen to be a really fun time without the evening festivity. Thanks for sharing and that cheesecake looks yummy :thumbsup2

Loved the Hidden Mickey in your cheesecake! :yay:

What a disappointment on the night, it makes me feel better that we won't be there for 31st October this year.

Isn't it funny to see the adults dress up too, Marcus? that always surprises me in America too.

At WDW I went to Hallowe'en party a few years ago, and I have to say that the parade and the effects were amazing. The headless horseman GALLOPS along the parade route - truly outstanding.

sorry that it wasn't as enjoyable for you there...

Sorry to hear the actual evening was a disappointment. Thanks for sharing the great photos though.

Yes it was very strange but also a lot of fun to see adults dressed up. As I wrote in my TR Halloween is not such a big thing in Germany and so it is always exiting to see adults in costumes!

And some of them were just :scared1:  WOW!
