TRIP REPORT: DAY 1

We started our way to the Manchester Airport about 1 and before we left my daughter had a lil accident because of Mommy being too excited.. Accidentally bumped her head on the door.. ooopss! But all is alright, she seem well so off we went to the airport.. Our flight, amazingly was on time and as soon as we boarded the plane and heard the gentleman greeted us in French, the reality sinked in that this is it! We shall charter a land unknown to us. Flight went smoothly with a few bumps during take off and landing but we arrived safe and sound and 10 minutes earlier than our scheduled arrival although we were supposed to disembark in Terminal 2F instead we did at Terminal 2B so all those planning on where to find this and that went done the hole , anyway, we passed through the immigration and collected our luggage which are 2 heavy suitcases no problem!

We then checked the map because we are absolutely clueless where we are and how to get to either the VEA or TGV. Up to that moment we were still undecided whether to take the VEA Shuttle or TGV but we ended up getting on the TGV because we just wanted to get to our hotel as soon as possible. It was pretty straight forward and people at the airport were really helpful and was directed precisely where we want to go. On the way to the TGV Station we passed by the VEA shuttle at exit number 12 and it looked nice but I think too much sitting down and travelling long hour is already too much for our tired yet really happy 18 month old DD.

We got to the Marne La Vallee station in just 10 mins and crossed the street to go to the 54 bus stand and waited another 10 minutes for the shuttle bus, was a bit annoyed because everybody was trying to push in although a group of British Teenagers actually gave up one of their seats so we can board the bus. The first drop off was Explorer’s hotel and next was ours, Dream castle hotel.

When I went in, the first thing I noticed was the smell of cigarette and was a bit disappointed cause it looked so much nicer in photos… although cant moan, so far staff has been very helpful… anyway, went to the check in counter and had no problems checking in and we were also asked to pay the tourist tax, kinda expected this so didn’t bother me much. We were given our keycards and we were in our room by 8 pm and so far all my requests has been granted, a room in the ground floor, cot for DD, a room with a garden view. Im quite pleased with the size of the room as well and it was clean although they could do more by providing a kettle and a much comfy pillows, (I rang housekeeping and requested extra pillows and withing 5 mins somebody was knocking on our door). I unpacked a bit and sorted out my daughter’s tea, gave her a wash and by then we were already starving as well so we put our daughter to bed and we went out to get something to eat, initially what we planned to do was eat at the airport but like I said, we just wanted to get to the hotel so we ended up in the hotel restaurant. Supposedly it should be a buffet but instead it was ala carte, the waiter was really friendly and funny, my DH had tomato soup 5 euro (looked really yummy) and Salmon which according to him was nice 17euro and Banana Split 8 euro, I had kiddie meal of mini burger only because of the French fries but I was kinda surprised as it was a big portion, I also had lasagne and we had 2 cokes so all in all so far was 56 euro… My DH said it was a bit pricey but he was well satisfied so it was worth it. I was also quite impressed because the manager even took time to ask how we are and if we needed anything so thumbs up for the service. After tea we went back to the room to find DD snoring and after having a cuppa we retire to bed ourselves because we know that the real fun begins the next day!

thanks for posting so quickly!! glad to hear your first day went smoothly - can't wait for day two!

sorry to hear dreamcastle smelled of smoke - i'm a respectful smoker and realise how annoying it can be, especially when travelling with a young child.

i really want a banana split now too...!

What a quick trip report :) You have been a busy girl this afternoon

Great to hear all about your first day and looking forward to the rest :)

Wow - can't believe you've started your trippie so quickly.

The shuttle buses can be a bit of a nightmare, can't they ? I've always felt sorry for those with young children, struggling with pushchairs and bags.
:thumbsup2 to the Brit teenagers - a credit to us, despite what our media would have us believe about them all.

Looking forward to hearing about your first day in the park.:goodvibes

Wrote this report when we arrived in the hotel while having a cup of tea after the meal so decided to post it as soon as I got the chance.

Ive managed to write down our first day and half of day 2 trippie but was worn out and decided to continue writing when we come back...

After we're settled gonna finish day 2...
