Hi everyone. We just got back last night and we are all still buzzing with excitement, so I thought I would set to and write a report while I'm fired up.
Appearing: me, 41
sister, 47 (first timer)
son, 14
daughter, 9
not appearing: husband, at home waiting for delivery of bathroom (whole different story involving non-delivery due to snow, cancelled plumbers, wasted days off work...enough, enough on with the Disney!)
Our first time travelling by train and we were all impressed with the Eurostar service. The nice touches like the oompah band playing Disney tunes in the departure area helped. Everything ran on time, so our luggage was checked into Disney Express and we were entering the Park at 1.45 French time.
Our first call, as always was Pirates of the Caribbean - my favourite ride of all. The Park didn't seem too busy so there was not much of a queue. My son then went on the first of his many many rides on Indiana Jones (15 during the whole trip!), while my daughter wished she were just 2cms taller (next year, there's always next year). Walking round into Frontierland we rode Phantom Manor and played a while in Fort Comstock, almost deserted as it was raining by now. We explored Aladdin's Passage and the Dragons Taniere (as my children call it) before going to the Village for dinner at Annette's. Oh no - Annette's was closed for refurb so we tried the Rainforest Cafe for the first time. We all really enjoyed this and just beat the crowds - we were seated right away but by the time we left the queue stretched to the door. We went back into the Park and the children rode Space Mountain while us forty-somethings went on It's a Small World and Snow White. My son rode Indiana again and BTM while the rest of us visited those Pirates again - twice
.
The Park was now closing. It closed at 7 this week, but I noticed they were not very strict about clearing everyone out - people were still riding some rides at 7.25.
We walked through the Village and along the canal back to the Santa Fe. We were a little soggy but soon warmed up in our jim-jams and were all asleep within minutes.
Our travel was much smoother than previously. Although the travel time was only an hour or so shorter, we got to the Park much earlier because of the check-in at Waterloo, and there was no undignified scramble for the VEA shuttle that we have had to go through before, so we arrived feeling far less frazzled.
to Eurostar.
