Trip Report BWV/VB/BCV - I've stayed at all the DVCs now!!!

Wow looks like you and your family had a great time and thanks for sharing the photos! Great report:)
and DH found a small piece of blue patterned china that the CMs said they were pretty sure came from the 1817 (?) shipwreck.
If it's white with blue markings you possibly have a shard of K'ang-hsi china from the 1715 fleet. It has traveled a long long way. If you can send a pic, can probably ID it here for you. You would be the 3rd person in just over the last month to have found a piece on the Disney Beach This is very rare and whole pieces of K'ang-hsi from the wreck are priceless. pirate:
In the photo are some of my old finds from the southern end of the Disney Beach to a mile south.(except for the key) The pieces in the lower middle of the photo are two shards of K'ang-hsi.

Loved your report! Thank you so much. Also thanks for the pictures. We have tried Vero, Hilton Head, BWV, WLV, OKW and SSR. We have had pretty good experiences at each one. I can't wait to stay at AKV and then BCV. We are not fans of the mutiple bus stops and we didn't have very good bus service at BWV, but I think that can happen at any resort and it won't keep me from staying there again. I do think the CMs at Vero and HH are great. Maybe because they don't see as many people and have to deal with as much stuff they can allow themselves to be more helpful and friendly. Although, I can't really say we have ever had a bad CM at any of the resorts. Glad you had a great trip. We will be at HH for Thanksgiving and I can't wait!

I enjoyed reading your report, and seeing your wonderful pictures!

This trip report was really enjoyable! I'm going back and forth about staying a couple nights at the end of our trip next year (split stay w/value) at either BCV or OKW - 2BR. I've stayed at OKW twice, but not yet at BCV (although I have visited B&C and Cape May). (7 of us, incl. 3 my 3 grand kids ages 4/7/8)

I did not know that the SAB slide is not a "sitting up" slide. (I like those better too!). My question is whether the Boardwalk pool slide is a "sit up" or "laying down" slide!

Also, what photo site & size do you use for posting your pics? Photobucket forum pics are so big, and they take a while to come up on my computer. Your pics are a great size, and they pop right up!

thanks!

Wow! I love the key you found. I collect old keys and finding one of the beach would be a thrill.
Here's the china DH found:

And, not as cool, I found a nail that looked like it spent some time in the ocean:

I  beach combing.

Mary,
BWV is a sitting up slide. :thumbsup2 And I use zorpia for my photos and choose medium size. I've been using zorpia for years - it used to be one of the only photo sites that played nice and talked with my mac computer. We were mac lovers when maclovin wasn't cool. :rotfl:

Thanks for sharing the picture. Sending you a PM.pirate:

Another fabulous report Starbox! I love all the pics too. I can't wait to go back! You visited all three of my "homes". But we are very partial to BWV and haven't been back to BCV in 2 years!! I was just thinking I need to plan a BCV trip and then I read your report :) Thanks for sharing!

Oh and I am a big pool slide person too. I agree on the laying down at the BC slide. I love SSR and BWV the most.

Well - I have to admit that I am not a fan of the multiple bus stops, so we planned to only do Epcot and DHS when we were at BWV this time around. We actually had such bad bus service on our last trip to OKW that I did not want to get on a Disney bus at all this trip. :headache:

But honestly, the bus to the MK is not that bad, it only stops at the Swan - but it seems like the bus to AK stops just about everywhere. I'd drive to AK if you possibly can.

That's kinda what we are afraid of :scared: we will have to sit down and decide if the busses are going to be a deal breaker for us. Thanks for the info!

Awesome report and photos. I haven't been to BWV in two years but it always seemed so well managed to me - sorry to hear your experience there was not great.
I'm a fan of Flying Fish as well. :)

YC/BC/BCV probably has one of the best management teams right now of any resort on property, only second and it would be a close call, to the team presently at the Grand Floridian. :thumbsup2

Glad you had a great time and sorry to hear about BW issues. :sad2:

It really shows. You can tell they really take pride in their resort. I hope I get one of those postcards to participate in a feedback survey.

The only thing that I was not thrilled about (and this is minor) was that I had to walk through the lobby in swim gear to get to SAB - is there a better/back way?

I loved reading your Trip Report...

How difficult is it getting BCV and VB right at the 7 month mark for a July/Aug 2 BR unit?

Thank you so much in advance!!!!!!!:goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

Thanks for a great trip report! We also had issues with BWV last time we stayed there..................horrible hour long bus trips, smoking everywhere and staff not interested, worn looking room............but we love the location and the flying fish too!!!

This time we are going to try for some time at BCV in a 1 bed............in August........does anyone know how likely this is at the 7 month mark?!!!! We have always been lucky before in getting VEro, HH and OKW at the 7 month mark but I'm guessing that BCV will be harder!!

I always enjoy reading your TRs, Starbox :goodvibes . My DH was reading it last night and I caught a glimpse of your pictures across the room and knew I had to read it myself this morning!

How far is VB from WDW? I'll be booking a vacation for August '09 and was originally going to split a 4 night SSR stay with a 6 night AKV stay. Now I'm tempted to try to stay at VB. Would it be tough to book VB for August at the 7 month window?? Would you recommend staying at VB at the beginning or end of the trip (i.e. 'save the best for last')?? What type of room/view is good to request?

I actually did not like the slide at SAB very much because you have to lie down and I prefer sitting up so I can see where I'm going - but it's impressive.

I chuckled when I read this because this is exactly what I thought as I was going down the SAB slide my one and only time. Usually on slides with open tops I stay lying down anyway but knowing I was in a tube and couldn't sit up freaked me out :scared: . It goes without saying that my two oldest sons LOVED the slide. It is, as you said, impressive.

Thanks again for the trip report!

FWIW - I have not had trouble getting in VB, BWV, or BCV at 7 months during June/July/August. I do call right at 7 months.

We've gotten August at VB only about 2 month prior, so I'd be surprised if it is difficult. I'm a fan of the ocean-view inn room, request ocean-facing.
Personally, I like VB at the end of the trip just because it's so relaxing.

Thanks so much for the great report and for sharing your photos - what a fun read!

Glad you had such a good time.
