You see, I am not a morning person, but when the alarm goes off at 4:45 in the morning because I have to get up to DLRP… no problem I am out of bed in 60 seconds. 15 minutes later we are ready to go… who is we?

Jarod (AKA J.J.) - 6 year old son
Mira Fee - 7 year old niece of my best mate (1st Timer)
Stefaan – Best mate
Ai – Beloved wife of best mate

It is 9:15 when we park at the New York Hotel. (We choose to park there as we would go into the village afterwards anway). And of to Disneyland.Got the Shareholders free tickets and armwristbands. CM’s are great, even giving us a 5th one so all members of our party would have one.

Straight of to BUZZ. After entering the queue line (was opened on the side, invitation entry) we waited for 5 minutes before entering the inside queue area. It took us about 10 minutes of queueing before entering the load area. The queue line is very nice. Small rooms with great BUZZ decoration, but with the BUZZ himself (animatronic) explaining what to expect.

The ride itself was great. The laser guns are very good; You can hold them in your hands pointing to any target in the room, the vibrate and light up when hitting the right target. Hidden and moving targets being the best bets for high score. The best target was the ZURG oversized figure. He shoots back at you and moves around on a platform, making hard to hit back.

The final room is nice, with Buzz halping you attach the bad guy. But that room is a little empty and should have been filled with more targets. Overhead targets could have been a big thing in this room, bus this feature is in no way used as it could have been. A shame.

Overal we had fun and after a first ride wanted to go again straight away. The verdict; Great ride with Buzz in the queue line and the Zurg in the attraction, the amazing blasters and vehicles being the highlight. The final of the ride could be bigger (more targets) but will not bring the overal experience down.

We did the ride 4 times. During the Shareholders only preview time it was a walk on. That was nice. At 14:00, when opening for the general public, the queue used all of the outside qeueuing area to hold all people that wanted to experience it.

Waiting to go on Buzz Lightyear Laser Blast

MORE BUZZ PICTURES AND PREVIEW INFO :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

The rest of the day was fun too. Here are some of the highlights including pictures

The kids got to see the Lion King show while me and my friend went on Fastpass hunting. When checking back the show was still on so we went to BUZZ for another ride, including a high 403.000 score (not mine)

With some time to kill before Star Tours we opted to check out a HISTA screening. Not my favorite, but if it has been a while I would check it out. My son thought it was a good idea and with a first timer it is never wrong.

My son thought it was a good idea to pose before the show starts

Star Tours was next. Proving that FAST PAST rulez the world, we walked straight on while most of the queue area inside was full. The fun part was that I was in Simulator 1, the same simulator I saw on my private guided tour on my previous trip. I know they are all the same but it did make me think about how AWESOME the ride looks from the VIP viewing area while in action.

After that there was time to do some other things.

On our way o the next ride filling up on candy

Le Pays de Contes de Fées in the rain is no real pleasure but it made clear to us that the rain was there to stay (for most of the time). To busy to queue for all rides we took some time to enjoy the beauty of the park. The Castle is always worth a visit so we entered it and enjoyed the treasures inside, including the Dragon. A shame that so many people ignore this amazing masterpiece. (I bow for the imagineers who build this)

My mate took Fee for her first Space Mountain Ride while my son wanted some new pins (he had some money he could us for whatever Disney present he wanted). A new collection of pins, some pin trading with CM (on the pinboard) and we where ready for the next chapter of this visit

Frontierland, here we come! And there it was. Mark Twain! So it had to be done.

Waiting for a boat, after lots of rain, can make you go a little crazy

Lazy river

A lazy river ride we all enjoyed before going to my number 1 ride; Phantom Manor!. The queue was long, longer then I have seen in the lasts years I’ve been. Still, we did go and I guess we made it in the elevators in less then 25 minutes. I love this ride.

I am not scared (yet)

Big Thunder Mountain was calling for us. Or at least our fastpasses said so. Straight on and loving it again. My son throwing his hands in the air, making clear to everybody he loves the ride!!! The newbe wanted another go while me and my son did some more shopping. He got a small Winnie the Pooh with a Piglet shaped rucksak on his back

Passing a big tree on our way for dinner

Time for some dinner we went to Au Chalet de la Marionnette for hotdog. I really think they should not call them hotdogs as the meat are no dogs and the bread was not hot but salty bagels… I didn’t think it was to bad, my son not liking them, I did say to myself never to get those again on a next trip

Pinocchio was next before we made our way back into Adventureland to visit La Cabane des Robinson. We where way to late for that as it was already closed. So up to see some pirates in action.

One great thing about the Pirates of the Caribbean is the amazing queue area. This is a ride to do at the end of the day. (last 30 minutes). Queue line is empty and you can really enjoy the spooky atmosFAIR. I love this place. We had a boat to ourself and enjoyed the ride. I am used to have things not working but with the swinign Pirate missing (again), the cats not floting around on there boxes (they where there, just not moving), the pirate hunting down the girl he bought and the girl running behind the pirate both not working it was a little bit of a shame. There where some other things missing or not working, work needs to be done here to keep it all going as should be.

I salute the pirates

At the end of the rides the CM’s asked if we wanted another ride. I never say no to that so there we go to see all the non working stuff again… (We enjoyed putting silly faces on the onride picture)

8pm, park is closing (announced on the speakers while still in Adventureland) and making our way out of the park. Stoped at the back of the castle to do a photo sesion with the kidZ

We didn’t ride it so at least we can have picture with it

Verdict

It was very, very, very busy… I don’t like busy so much (although good for the park). We still had a great time, proving that even when packed you can have fun. Afternoon should be for shopping, browsing, fastpass, but nothing else. Queueing for 60 minutes and more for a ride that is empty at 6pm – 7pm… nevaH! You can do a lot in the evening without the day queues… DLRP is no stress, there is so much other magic to do without having to run from one queue to another. Even with a newbe, who did not do all rides on this visit, it is more fun to chill and enjoy and show other treasure of the park. (like the dragon, it is the treasure so many miss)

It’s all about having some fun

BUZZ is great. I loved it. (I will miss the Vis though). The ride is fun, BUZZ animatronics is great, and I LOVE THE OVERSIZED ZURG who shoots at you…

A day at DLRP ended

There is more BUZZ picture coming soon

Great report and pictures! Thank you so much! Your son is sooo photogenic! :thumbsup2

That was a lovely report Andy :thumbsup2 I am so glad you all had a great time. I loved Buzz at WDW so can't wait to do it at DLRP. :goodvibes

We also treated ourselves to the castle, it was our joint Christmas present! :cloud9:

Great report and I love the photos!!! :Pinkbounc And many thanks for your Buzz review!! Yes, it's a shame that Visionarium has gone, but I'm sure that Buzz is going to be a great attraction for DLP! :thumbsup2

Brilliant report and fantastic photo's, especially the night time ones which never come out like that with my camera. The Buzz ride is one of the things that my DSs really want to go back for.

Great report and phots Andy. Look forward to trying this myself :goodvibes

Thanks for sharing you trip with us. These are great photos. It has made me even more excited to go in May

Great trip report!

Goodness, how your son has grown since the Disney DVD! It looks like you made very effecient use of your time at DLP and squeezed a lot into one day without too much stress!

I went on POTC for the first time a couple of weeks ago and was a little dissapointed by it's slowness and the limitation of things to look at. My DH says he remembers it being better last year, so maybe there were many things not working on our visit.

Buzz looks great and I just 'know' both of my little boys will want to ride it again and again:)

Thank you for sharing

Wonderful! Just a question: there is any age restriction?
My son is 3 years old and he loves Buzz...

No restriction, as long as there is an adult riding along (I guess no 3 year old would go alone anyway ;) )

Tell me about it. Time seems to go so fast with a little one in the house. Although he is 6 now, I should not call him little one anymore.
Although I always try to be in the park from opening untill closing time, never with stress. Running from one attraction to another is never an option. There is so much more to see and enjoy at Disney. (many people seem to forget)

Yeah, was a little bit of a shame, but was not going to spoil my day. Most of the time one or two things don't work, but this time it was a lot.
