This was a "Just the girls" trip for me and my dd who turned 10 on 8/23. I thought I was ready for the heat since we've had a lot of 90 degree weather in CT this summer, but I was wrong. Florida heat is oppressive! I don't think I'd go in August again, but everything considered, we had a good trip. Here's day 1& 2 of our trip with the rest to follow.

Day 1 - 8/22 - We got into MCO around 10:40 p.m. A CM from Magical Express was waving a Mickey hand as we approached the elevator to go downstairs. She told us to go down 2 flights and turn right and look for the M.E. desk. We checked in and waited about 15 minutes for the bus to come. We waited about 10 minutes on the bus and we got to ASMu about 12:15 am. Check-in was pretty quick - we were in our room by 12:30 and in bed by 1:00. We were in the Jazz Building, 2nd floor.

Day 2 - 8/23 - We got up at 8:30 am. Went down to the food court and ate a quick breakfast. I had booked the Family Magic Tour as a surprise for my dd's birthday. Big mistake!! She was so tired and all of the walking and the heat was just too much for her on our first day. She tried because she knew I'd paid for it, but she just wasn't into it and was dragging around the park. We ended up leaving 1/2 way through it and went back to our hotel The CM offered to let us take it again another day, but dd just wasn't interested. I shouldn't have booked it for our first day there. Live and learn!! The tour is really great for kids 4-12 - the younger kids were really having fun. There was another girl who was about 12 who seemed to be having a good time too. It was just poor planning on my part.

So we went back to the hotel and she rested a bit and then we went in the "very warm" pool. It was like bathwater. The air temp was around 92 degrees, I think they said the heat index was 105. I did catch a breeze now and then that cooled me off once I was wet.

We had a 6:30 dinner reservation at LTT. So we headed in a little early. We got to MK about 5:30 and headed for Thunder Mountain RR - one of dd favorites. To my surprise we practically walked on. The clock said a 10 minute wait, but we only waited for one train full and then we were on! Then we walked right on again. I still don't know if it was just good timing or not. At that point it was only 15 minutes till dinner, so we just sat in the lobby of LTT for our dinner. Dinner was very good - dd didn't eat much. Did I mention we had the free meal plan? DD enjoyed the character interaction. She still can't figure out how Pluto knew her name!! He wrote "Happy Birthday Kaitlyn" in her autograph book. They decorated the table a little bit with curled ribbon. Since she doesn't like cake, they brought her a dish of ice cream with a candle in it and sang "Happy Birthday" to her. She enjoyed the special treatment.

We finished dinner about 7:30 or so. We went on HM, then, It's a Small World, Winnie the Pooh, Snow White, and Mickey's Philharmagic without any wait at all!! We skipped Peter Pan because it had a 20 minute wait and no more fast passes. My dd was just about to get on the Teacups when Wishes started. I dragged her off because I didn't want her to miss it. We'd only gotten to see it from outside the park while waiting for a bus during our November 2004 trip, so I really wanted to hear Jiminy Cricket and the music.
The teacups closed, so we left the park, along with thousands of other people and got back to our room about 10:00. It was a good ending to a rather dismal beginning...

The birthday treat sounds sweet, shame about the magic tour there is always next time. I have a Kaitlyn too and I hope to do a mother/daughter trip when she is older. Can't wait to hear the rest of your report
