Another short day, this time just me and my sister, Christine.
We arrived at around 9:30 a.m. to VERY huge lines to get into DL! You know it's bad when the line starts half-way in that plaza area and not closer to the main gates. As soon as we got in, we made our way to Space Mountain to grab a Fast Pass, return time said 11:20-12:20.
Next, it was off to do whatever we could get on, but try to remain cool. In the shade, it was lovely, but in direct sunlight it was extremely hot! We walked over to the Tomorrowland side of the Matterhorn, passing the long line, and going over to Mickey's Toontown to ride Roger Rabbit's Cartoon Spin. The wait time was 15 minutes. Not bad at all.
Next, we briefly walked through Fantasyland, stopping a bit to chat with Alice who was busy looking for the White Rabbit. We posed for some pictures and then left her to make our way through that path alongside BTMRR to get to Frontierland.
The line for BTMRR was 45 minutes and meant standing in the sun. We skipped it and went onward to NOS. POTC was closed (bummer!). We continued on to Haunted Mansion to find it was a 7 minute wait but saw the line zig-zagged in the back. Again, we skipped it and headed to Hungry Bear to see if they were open. The time was 10:46; they wouldn't be open until 11!
We turned and made our way back near NOS and went to see if we could get a seat for the Blue Bayou for lunch. They were completely booked for the remainder of the day. Next, we tried Café Orleans and got a seat booked for 11:50. That wasn't too bad. We could dash over to Space Mountain at 11:20, ride it, and then make it back to our reservation in time!
While we waited, we browsed around Le Bat en Rouge and then took a walk over to Adventureland. The Tiki Room had just opened for the next show and we decided to sit in the back and relax.
After that, it was off to Tomorrowland, briefly shopping in the Star Trader (to kill time) and then we got to the SM Fast Pass line at 11:20 on the dot. Next, it was a dash over to NOS again, not realizing we could have gotten a new FP for Indiana Jones. Bummer again! POTC was still closed, but we needed to get back to Café Orleans to get our table.
We were seated around 12 and had a wonderful lunch. We split the Monte Cristo (first time I ever had it!) with some delicious fries baked in Parmesean cheese and parsley.
POTC finally opened while we were eating, but the line was too long and in the sun. We walked back over to HM and saw the sign said a 13 minute wait. Surpisingly, we went in! Funny, we skipped it at a 7 minute wait, but entered at 13! The line went very fast and it was nice to sit in the cool, air-conditioned ride.
After HM, we headed to Frontierland and jumped on BTMRR. The wait time said 20 minutes and it went very fast. We decided to leave DL after that and walk over to DCA. Soarin' was way too packed and we were pressed for time. We headed to A Bug's Land to sit inside "It's Tough to Be a Bug" just to cool off. That's always a fun show.
Next, we walked to Paradise Pier to jump in line for California Screamin'. That was only a 10 minute wait. By then, it was going on 2:30 and we almost got in to see California Dreams. I've seen it, but Christine hasn't and I told her she'd like it. We missed the 2:30 showing and we couldn't wait around for the next one. We bought a water bottle near the Sun Plaza and headed out for the exit.
The 5 South freeway was bumper to bumper and all we heard on the radio was horrendous accidents all over the place. We needed to get to the 78 East, but both sides were blocked off due to a terrible accident near Emerald Dr. We had to take the Palomar Airport Road exit to get to Vista and pick up Mom from work at 5 p.m. In fact, we left Anaheim at 3 p.m. and got to Mom by 4:55! That's how bad traffic was.
