Went to Fort Wilderness 27 - 31 July and below is the Trip Reprt for each day.
27 July - I have a Fleetwood Bayside Popup that I tow with an F-150 Truck. I was coming from Georgia and I have to say it rode extremely well all the way. In fact on the interstate it almost felt like I was not pulling anything. Arrived at the Fort around 1 PM. We got everything set-up in about an hour. Interestingly before I left I gave my twin girls (13) assigned jobs and with my DW we all had an agreement that if we finished our tasks to asks if somebody needed help. This really sped things up. After setup I went to Shades of Green to pickup my tickets. We had agreed to only do Waterparks and Seaworld this trip (yes it was tough not going to the parks but I wanted more time at the Fort and less park time). Afterwards we rode our bikes around the campsite. This included taking the nature trail to Wilderness Lodge. It was nice to see the different wildlife out there. We decided then that we would take the monorail and just ride the MK monorail loop. Maybe my family is crazy but we enjoy just riding the monorail.
Upon return we decided just to buy a pizza at the Fort. They are not very expensive but I must say I have had better. Next time I think I would go for one of the sandwiches. I saw a couple of people getting a sandwich that 2 people could share easily. Afterwards we went and got the stuff to make s'mores because we wanted to go to the Chip and Dale sing along. We did the Smores and the girls really enjoyed the sing along. The one thing we would have done different was we brought the over sized marshmellows. Good in theory but too much marshmellow on the smore and the outside would be cooked but the inside would not be done yet. That night we skipped the movie and went to the beach to see the Water pageant and Wishes fireworks. It was my first time of doing this at the Fort. Was not aware that they played the Wishes theme at the beach while the show to wishes is happening. I twas a fun first day.
28 July - We got up early that day as we were going to Typhoon Lagoon. This was a fun day. Got there at rope drop and pretty much did everything we wanted by about 2:30 in the afternoon. I did get some mini donuts at TL. They were really good with almost a funnel cake taste. Upon return to the campground my daught that is in to pin trading wanted to go to the meadow trading post. Stayed there for a while and then headed back to the campsite. This time I wanted told the family of the way to go inside a Theme Park without a ticket. Yes we would ride the monorail to EPCOT. Keep in mind the monorail goes in the park it just doesn't stop in the park. I also wanted to test how long it took for Disney Transportation with several changeovers would take (I am aware at the Outpost you can take a bus to EPCOT but my family enjoys riding the monorail). We rode the interior bus from the 1500 loop to the Settlement Bus Stop. Then we caught the boat to the Contemporary. After that it was one stop to the TTC. We then switched to the monorail to EPCOT. This process took 50 minutes. Without getting off the monorail (I did stand when I saw a tired family boarding because I have been there and done that and know how they felt) we rode the EPCOT monorail back to the TTC. We then switch to the express monorail to MK. There we caught the boat back to the Fort. Once again we rode the bus from the settlement to the 1500 loop. Same amount of time 50 minutes.
For supper that night we had put a Taco mix with beans in the crockpot. I had got this idea from this site. Great choice. It is a warm meal but one that works in the summer. After eating we did a little more pin trading and then decided to go to the movie that night. The movie was "the Apple Dumpling Gang". It is a movie that I had not seen in 35+ years and my twins girls had never seen. They enjoyed it. Maybe it was just watching a movie outside at Disney but it was just something we enjoyed.
