OK, so here is my trip report for the time 20.January 23.January 2006.
The first intention on this trip was not the resort it was the Mylene Farmer concert on Sunday 22.January. And so we planed the Disney trip around this concert.
We arrived on Friday at CDG T3 at 10:31am and missed the Disney bus by one minute. And so we decided to take the TGV at 11:24am from T2. But due to the many people at the ticket office we missed the TGV by one minute! And so we took the Disney Bus from T2 and arrived at the Sequoia Lodge at 12:45. We decided to walk the short way from S.L. to the Hotel New York because the bus had two more stops at the Santa Fee and the Cheyenne. And on foot we arrived earlier as the bus!
This was the first time at the Hotel New York and now I can say with pride that I have slept in all 6 Disney Hotels!
We got a perfect room 7th floor with lake view. It was the most beautiful room that we ever had in all Disney Hotels. It is worth to pay the 48 extra (per night and room) for the lake view. I can not imagine staying offsite during a Disneytrip. And if Im on a budget I would at least stay at the Santa Fee. But it sounds impossible for me to leave the resort at night and not to wake up in the resort or have a walk around the lake in the morning to get to the parks. I hope I dont sound snotty!
After admiring the room and the unforgettable view we wanted to do something useful and decided to walk to the Disneyland park. And when we left the hotel the sun came out to welcome us and we had a blue sky for 30 minutes. Let the magic begin!
Our first highlight was Mickeys winter wonderland. The show was nice but it is more suited for children. I miss Tarzan! What a show!
After the show we did our 3 favourite attractions: BTM, PM and two times POTC!
Then it was time for the parade. But prompt 4pm the rain decided to start also. But I was impressed the parade took place with all the dancers and characters. But it was a little bit strange to see the parade start in Mainstreet!
We ended that first day in the Disneyland park with HISTA, Star Tours, IASW and Indiana Jones.
At 7:45pm we had a reservation at the Beavern Creek Tavern at the Hotel Sequoia Lodge. And there we made a little mistake. We decided to have the starter buffet followed by one main dish. But then we saw the unbelievable starter and desert buffets. They were both great. The next time we will only order starters and desert buffet! In that way you have plenty to choose from.
After dinner we had a little walk to the Newport Bay Club to have a look into the shop. And after a little shopping we went back to our dream-room and had a perfect first night!
Part 2 and pictures will follow soon!
