We arranged for transportation from Ron Jon to the Magic through the Ron Jon concierge. They were to send 2 vans (15 people plus luggage) for pickup at about 10:30. We were greeted by a gentlemen, who when I asked if the two vans had arrived, he told me that there was one coach bus waiting for us, as the vans were held up. This was great. However, we did managed to fill up the entire luggage compartment under the bus! (oops!!). So, 15 of us piled on with plenty of room to spare. (All this for just $5 per person!!!). Arrived at the port and checked our luggage. Proceeded through security and then to check in.
We went right to the Castaway Club line, no waiting. Checked in with no problems. We were given PLAPLAP rotation, 2nd seating which we love. Waited online for a little bit and embarked the ship at about 11:30. My friend and I did the ressie rush while my husband and kids went to Topsiders. We went to make Palo reservations first. We booked brunch for Monday morning, and did not do dinner reservations at first. Then, we went off to the spa for our appointments there. Hot rock massages for the husbands, facials for us and the Rasul for my husband and I. Our other friends booked the Rainforest for the week and loved it.
Met up with my husband and kids for lunch and enjoyed the ship until we could check into our rooms. My friends husband and oldest son had still not arrived due to their plane being delayed in NY. They were on an 8 am flight that was postponed until 11:30. Thankfully they had Disney transfers and made it to the ship 1/2 hour before we had to muster for the lifeboat drill. (This is one of the reasons I like to fly in a day before.) We were all on deck 7 (7528/30, 7516/18 and 7028/30). My stateroom attendant was Made. I'm not sure where he is from. He was very good.
After the lifeboat drill, up to deck 9 for the sailaway party. This is always a good time. This kids had a ball, as did we. I got chills when I heard the ships horn for the first time. With this being our third Disney cruise, the horn is the sound that brings it all home! After hanging out on the deck for a bit, we headed back to our rooms to get ready for dinner.
Dinner: Rotation PLAPLAP. Parrot Cay. We met our server Steve from Trinidad and asst. Luis from India. What a great pair. They were by far our best team to date. I think they were awesome! Enjoyed dinner. I think the food had gotten better on the cruise. No complaints from anyone. After dinner, everyone was tired so we were off to our rooms. (Except the teens who were off to the Stack until the wee hours).
Part 3 coming soon.
