We left Long Island on Thursday, Feb. 17 headed to Orlando from JFK. Arrived at the airport in 30 minutes (that is record time for Long Island traffic). A porter was waiting for us a the curb. Luggage checked and through security very quickly. We were off to a great start. Boarded the plane and with a short delay on the runway, and we were off!

Arrived in Orlando - We had arranged for transportation from Murray Hill, their driver was waiting for us at the luggage carousel. We loaded into the van and with a quick stop at a convenience store were off to Ron Jon Cape Caribe.

Ron Jon - We arrived at about 10:30 p.m., checked in and went to our room. The kids were hungry so we ordered Dominos. The resort restaurant was closed. The next day we headed for the pool. Although it was only 70 degrees and very windy, the kids went right in. The pool complex is beautiful. Play areas for little ones, lazy river, large pool. They had a ball. The adults found a protected spot from the wind and just enjoyed the day. The restaurant at the resort was just under new management the week we arrived. Let me tell you, the food was delicious and pretty inexpensive in our opinion. (You must try the turkey, bacon and avocado sandwich - delicious). After a day in the pool, we took the kids by cab to Ron Jon surf shop. We had given them RJ gift certificates for Christmas. They each bought a bathing suit and a few other things too! (Great gift idea if you're headed to Cocoa Beach the day or two before, and you can order them online). Back to the hotel where we met another family in our traveling party who was arriving that day. The kids played some miniature golf before dinner. We went back to the RJ restaurant for dinner. Again, very good. They younger kids enjoyed the indoor playground before retiring back to our rooms for the night.

Part 2, arriving at the port coming soon!

Thanks for writing. Good info on Ron Jons, but I have to admit to a serious chuckle. Looks like when you were writing this, you did some cut and pasting. I'm assuming "try the turkey, bacon and rooms" and "After a good nights sleep, we headed for avocado sandwich - delicious" was really supposed to be "try the turkey, bacon and avacado sandwich - delicious, and "we headed for the room". Oh well, just shows that someone actually reads these things!

Hi Mumph39, Thanks for posting have really enjoyed reading your trip reports, especially the info on RonJons.
We are booked in May for 2 nights prior to our cruise.
We will be arriving quite late on the tuesday evening and was wondering about eating in the on site restaurant, but have heard mixed reviews.
You say they have been taken over, we have 2 children with us are there catered for or like you said Dominoes here we come
Would be very very gratefull if you could send any more info on ron jons and if you have any pics that you would care to share would be brill
Thanks

tkd lisa - thanks for noticing my typo. I'm using my son's laptop because my computer is down. I keep hitting all the wrong buttons. I guess I should have proofread - oops!

Pencoy's - The restaurant was just under new management that week. We were a bit weary of a newly managed restaurant, but they were great. No kinks at all. The ladies at the reception desk gave us the Domino's menu. They delivered right to the room. If you are using a car service, the one we used (Murray Hill) gave us a store stop in the price. That was great for picking up breakfast items. We really loved the resort and would definitely consider going back one day. Too cold for the beach which looked beautiful.

great report- i too am going to ron jons the day before the cruise- i was told check in time would be 4:00- hopefully we will be as lucky as you when we arrive at 11:00 am & be able to get our rooms- if not i hope they will store luggage for 3 people

:flower:

Bratray - just to clarify we arrived at 11:00 pm. That part may have been deleted from my post. I was having computer problems! I will fix that.

We loved the resort, would recommend it to anyone. Just remember that it is a timeshare and there is no daily housekeeping. We had a washer/dryer in the room (2 bedroom). We received one phone call from the sales department and that is it. So, no pressure there.

ok, i did call & they said it shouldn't be a problem to store the luggage at ron jons- it looks like such a fun place- i figure this will be a great start to our cruise :)
