Here are several highlights, very few lowlights and some general observations from our recent trip to WDW, October 30 November 6.
Our party consisted of me DW, DS12, DS8, DD7, DD4, FIL, MIL and on the last day of the trip, BIL, SIL and niece, age 2.
SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 1
After the late night at MNSSHP, we slept in a little, and were at the park around 10am. Weather was great; sunny, a little on the warm/humid side (mid 80s) but there was a nice breeze and Im from Minnesota, so warm and humid in November is not a problem!
We had only been to WDW one other time (2000) at this time of year, so we dont have a lot to compare it to, but the line to get into Epcot were LONG. It took us over a half hour from the time we got off the bus to get into the park. We were a little concerned, but once we were in the park, the crowds were really not a problem most of the day. We usually arrive at parks at opening and try to avoid weekends, so I guess we should have expected a few people to be there with us!
We got FT FP and received a bonus FP for HISTA. The only other time we used FP was for M:S. When we went to get our M:S FP someone gave us a couple of their FP that they werent using so DS8 and I got to preview the ride. It was GREAT. Unlike any ride Ive ever been on. I was a little concerned because spinning rides sometimes dont agree with me, but I had no ill effects. Its an amazing feeling. Ive never been launched into space, but I imagine it probably feels something like M:S! Also, all our kids except DD4 rode M:S and enjoyed it. MIL & FIL also!
We did child swap at M:S and when the parent that waited rode, they could bring three people with them, so three people in our party got to ride twice in a row. I dont remember having that option with child swap in the past, but its really nice!
We didnt get to see as much of World Showcase as wed have liked because it was pretty crowded for reasons already mentioned AND the Food & Wine Festival was going on. I would have liked to have sampled more food, but most lines were pretty long (10-15 minute waits). Our kids wouldnt let us spend a lot of time in WS even if there werent crowds!
Ice Station Cool is a favorite of our family. DS8 was able to trick DDs into drinking Beverly!
Our meals were at the cafeteria in The Land and fish & chips in England.
Illuminations was great! We had excellent seats, on the plaza in between the gift shops right at the entrance to WS. We were hoping to get right up to the water, but because of the wind, we had to stay back on the plaza.
Highlights:
*M:S!
*Beverly
*Before Illuminations, DD4 spilled her popcorn and a CM that was doing crowd control (and attends my alma mater, Mankato State University!) went and got her more popcorn! Thanks to her for doing that and thanks to Disney for allowing their employees to do that!
Lowlights:
* We ran out of time and didnt get to go on the ride in Spaceship Earth, a favorite of DS12.
* I would have liked to sample more of the F&WF foods lines were a little too long!
