Trip Protection?

Has anyone ever purchased trip protection? I purchased airfare/car rental through orbitz for 950.00 and a rental home for 1100.00. I live in Michigan and we just got slammed with a major snow storm and I'm watching on the news about all the people stranded at the airport. What happens if that happens to us, we will be leaving jan 14..Any help and info would be greatly appreciated..After all this snow I can't wait for disney

I usually buy cancellation insurance through insuremytrip.com when we rent a vacation home. But with most of the companies you only have a certain window of time to get it. With some it's 72 hrs after you've made your initial deposit. But you can read the conditions for each company on the website.

WHEN did you do all this purchasing?

In a lot of cases if you did not buy insurance within 14 days of first spending the money it's not going to be insured. Read the terms carefully considering you are buying very late!

I purchased this in Sept. I did try looking at the website that evryone said to look at but it is all sooo confusing. All I want is something that will give me my money back (2013.00) if a storm hits and the flight is canceled. I know I sound silly but I've never done this before..Thanks bunches
