Hey all -

I'm saving everything that I can for a trip with DH to Tokyo and Tokyo Disney. We're not going for awhile (need time to save) but I have some questions that I'd like help with now.

Can Dreams book a vacation at Tokyo Disney? Are there certain agents that know this info better than others?
Can I use Disney Dollars, Disney Gift Cards, and Chase Visa Disney Rewards at Tokyo Disney and how does that transfer to a yen?
And is there a forum on the DIS where I can get more info or on another forum someplace else?

TIA

Hi.

I've been to TDR (Tokyo Disney Resort) twice, so if you want to ask me anything about the resort, please let me know. I'd be happy to help.

TDR is not owned or operated by the Walt Disney Company, so they do not accept Disney gift cards, etc. You can of course use your credit cards there, and your bank will automatically convert the sale from Yen into US Dollars for you, although there will probably be a fee.

The best forums for TDR are on MiceChat.

The official website for TDR is here. I can also recommend Joe's site, which is excellent.

Here is a link to my trip report I did for my 2003 trip, if that helps you any.

Again, please let me know if you have any other questions.

 I knew that but didn't connect the dots. Makes sense. Ok, strike the idea of requesting Disney Dollars for Christmas to use in Tokyo Disney. :upsidedow

I'm going to spend some time on the threads you've listed and your trip report over the next few days. Thanks for answering. I'm sure that I'll have more questions. I can't believe I'm going to embark on this adventure.

Take the rest of us with you? :flower3:

Start saving $70 a month per person. The plan is to meet up with many Disney friends across the globe from various Disney forums. So come along. :goodvibes

My DD went 3 years ago when she was a high school exchange student there. She begged her teacher for one day at the park. (wanted to be one up on mom and dad) They went to the Disney Tokyo Sea with a big group from her school. She was the only non-local in the group. She loved it and had a great time. She did, however, say her favorite part of being in Japan was going to all the temples and seeing the "real" Japan!

Wonderful exprience for your DD. :thumbsup2 We plan on doing Disney a few days and then Tokyo itself for 2-3 days. I'd like to explore more of Japan but just don't feel comfortable. I'm already out of my comfort zone by flying across the ocean and visiting a country where I can't understand the language. But still I'm excited at the prospect of going.

Don't let that stop you. There are organized English speaking tours you can take to Kyoto and other places to see the beauty of Japan. Don't miss the ability to see Japan while you're there.

My DD had just turned 16 and spoke NO Japanese at all. We put her on a plane off to Japan and people asked us how we could do that. My DH said it was the safest place she could go. He had been there dozens of times in the Air Force Reserve and had no problem with it at all. She was there for a martial arts program and to help teach English at a high school. She said she never once felt unsafe and did pick up some of the words in just days. She was there 2 1/2 weeks. In fact I had called her, on the teachers cell phone, while they were at Disney Sea and heard her order her entire meal in Japanese! What a thrill....she has forgotten the words of course...but she still tells everyone about her trip and how she wants to go back....
Someday we will all go....

I might be overstepping my bounds here...

But it sounds like a trip to Toyko Disneyland and DisneySea might be a necessary adjunct to Pete and Walter's upcoming visit to Australia??? :)

I mean, just for research and everything.

I'd love that and I'm sure Pete would too.
