Am I the only one who starts getting paranoid in the weeks closest to a big trip? Today I started getting totally paranoid I was going to forget our confirmation papers and our MNSSHP tickets at home, or something equally important.
I am getting better. I used to check and double check and triple check. I have gotten more relaxed. I have travelling down to a science. I pick the purse I am going to use for travel and I put everything in it and do not use it until then. I put plane reservations and passports and make sure they are handy, since that is what;s needed first. I am so nutty, we use our passports to travel domestic...my DH's idea...in case we want to go to the caribbean I have a leather travel envelpoe in which I pack everything else = tickets, reservations, confirmation numbers. Once it's in my purse I know its there and ready to go!
Kinda the same as what goofie4goofy said... I've felt that way before and sometimes STILL do check and double check and check again right before leaving. I guess it is a bit of paranoia but sometimes I think well-founded paranoia because we HAVE gone on trips where we forgot this or that- but it's never been something as important as like boarding passes or park tickets or something of that nature! But still I worry sometimes.
Kinda like goofie4goofy (except not in a purse- usually in the plastic folder thing the Disney trip info comes in or a folder)- I put things that are going to be needed in one place like that... and keep them there until it's time to pack and/or go. That way I know if I have that with me- I have all the absolutely necessary items with me.
I think we all become a little OCD when we're in charge of the documents, etc. for Disney! Just try to pay attention to where everything is at all times. I posted here before about my scare at MCO, when I had put my small purse inside my carry-on bag before passing through security and forgot that's where it was. We were waiting to board the flight for home and I thought I had taken the small purse with my into the ladies room. I thought I had hung it on the hook on the bathroom stall and walked away without it! I was freaking out that it had been stolen, of course. My younger son finally pulled it out of my carry-on and said, "Is this the yellow purse you're looking for?" I still haven't recovered from the heart palpitations! It's not an experience I recommend to anyone, so if you're changing your license, money and so forth into a smaller purse, pay attention to where you put it! It gets hectic being in charge of everyone's paperwork, reservations, ADR numbers, hotel info, rental car info, etc. No wonder we're so exhausted when we get back from our trips!
I dont think tripple checking is paranoid at all, just being prepared. Here's what I do~ I pack, then check my list to see if I overlooked anything. Then ask DH to check. That way if he's missing his Toucan Sam boxers, or something else *urgent*, It isnt my fault
Try to relax, and have the time of your life
I start having anxiety about 7 days out. Mostly about all the things that could go wrong in those 7 days to make us miss our trip. I usually want to lock the family in a bubble for that last week.
