Our house is now shuttered! What a job! This is something that boys are really good for! hahaha

I even spotted a baby lizard for Jay's boys!!

The beach was great! It looked like fun, smelled wonderful and fresh and the waves were wild. We had the brave and crazy surfers. I can just imagine how it will look in a few hours.

We are starting to get the bands now. Spooky!

How does your car fare out in the storm? I see it's under the carport, but is that enough protection?

Doesn't having the shutters on the house make you claustrophobic? I'm not sure I could handle that, but then again, I guess I would have to. ewwww.....

The carport is good protection from the trees if they fall. We lived in an apartment during Andrew and several cars that stayed in the lot (owners that foolishly stayed behind) got crushed by trees or coconuts. I do worry about it, though.

Everyone in my house hates when the shutters are up, except for me! I could leave them up all year round, but I love that cocoon feeling. I do leave them up in my bedroom. Drives DD nuts!! I'm weird, I know!!

I'll send you the recipe but only cuz I love you!! It's super yummy, we always eat until we are bursting!

Just saw that the barometer dropped pretty fast, so they think Fay is going to turn into a Cat 1. The winds are up to 67 mph down in the Keys and the shelters are opening here. Luckily, we don't have to go to one because of the shutters although if this was a big one and headed for us, I'd already be in the car and zipping out of the way!

YOU BE CAREFUL! Barb is right, having friends in FL does come with a price tag of worry! STAY SAFE! AND SHUSH, you didn't look scary, cute was more the word I would have used. That and young. How do you always manage to do that? You could be the sister of your DD! And speaking of her, that photo of her behind the bush with her eye/smile peeking out? SO SWEET. I know it was just a quickly snapped picture, but it's a really good one. You should frame that one for sure!

I just wanted to let your DD know that I went out to Barnes and Noble and bought that Walt Disney book- Walt Disney, The Triumph of the American Imagination- and it is amazing so far! That is one big honkin' book, but I am determined to get through a good chunk of it before vacation...in 65 days (yeah, I just HAD to say it )

You should hear the wind whipping around out there! It isn't really raining much at this moment -- it has come and gone and come and gone. Big giant down pour and then silence. We're just sorta waiting.

I'll send you the recipe too, but only because I love you!! My Daddy would be thrilled. He developed it himself with me and Mom as his guina pigs!!

Oh, I love that picture of DD looking out from the bush!! I'm definitely framing it. It's just sweet.

Thanks for the prayers. I'm sure we'll be fine too, but I would never turn them down ever!! My best friend's mother has cancer, bone cancer and very bad. They only gave her a 50% to live. Well, we've all been praying like crazy, of course, and she has a PET scan the other day. NO CANCER!!! And I believe those are what saved me, those and Diva! Prayers are good stuff!!

DD loves that book! I'm so glad you got it. She's been telling me bits and pieces of it.

We live in Fort Lauderdale. The weather advisory just said that it is moving across the state toward us and will stall, so we're going to have some very rough weather mostly tomorrow.

Hopefully all will be well and magical at WDW!

We didn't lose power. It flicked on and off and it sorta of shrank down, but we never lost it.

It's calm out there although we are still under tornado watch. It smells really good. I can smell the ocean right in my backyard. We're still expecting a lot more rain but that's okay. We made it!!!

I'm always surprised at the iguana's and how they just walk around, enjoying themselves. Iggy will dash up part of a palm tree, but then stop and hang out while we're in the pool.

Down here we do battle with all forms of reptiles and bug life! I always feel terrible when we get a lizard in the house because they have trouble finding their way out and slowly go from green to white if they can't find water and then I find a body. We sometimes get ants, that I just hate and there isn't a mosquito in Florida that won't bite DD! They LOVE her. And we get the occassional cockroach! There is nothing more disgusting that you can have come into your house. We yell and scream and throw things at them, spray them with hairspray and cleaner. Diva used to just casually walk the other way as if she decided that was a human's job and far beneath her!
