Trip Number Nine ~ It's Christmastime!

Happy One Month Shelly!:cool1: Your trip is getting closer!

I hadn't heard about the new Pirates attraction at DHS...thanks for the info! We will have to try it out on our Christmas trip!:thumbsup2 It sounds neat.

And guess what...I'm home sick today. With strep throat. I actually feel pretty miserable. And not much is packed yet! However, my intentions today are to get everything packed for the most part. I did the big Target run yesterday to buy all of our toiletries, etc. I can't decide if I should just lay in bed or start packing. I think START PACKING!

No that's the first I've heard of that. But my boys love PoTC so that sounds cool.

I think it sounds pretty cool too! :)

HAPPY ONE MONTH TO SHELLY & JODI!!!!

:dance3:

Shelly, did you know about the new POTC attraction about to open or just learning of it? That'll be fun to have something new to see!

How soon before you start checking the weather forecast? I learned from my recent trip to Missouri that the forecast changed almost every day I looked at it. When I was within the 10 day forecast on TWC.com, I checked it every day. And it changed about 10 times. What would be your ideal weather - temps-wise? I guess there's a pretty wide range of what you could expect. That's got to make packing difficult! Apparently, it's making Jodi a little anxious! :hyper:

Thanks Teri! :goodvibes

No I hadn't heard about it before I read that! :upsidedow Not sure how I missed it or how long it's been in the works or anything...:confused3 Looking forward to it though! :thumbsup2

Oh I've been watching the weather everyday. :faint: I will really start checking it out 10-15 days before when I can get the extended forecast. But, like you said it will change 10-15 times. :sad2: So I'm not sure what the point is. I am just going to have to pack for all kinds of weather and hope for the best I guess.

:santa:HAPPY ONE MONTH SHELLY!!!:santa:

Thanks!!! :cool1: Did you get the GF IPO 30 day email??? :yay:

Ooh! I had heard about the Jack Sparrow thing but I didn't know it was opening so soon! I'm glad-- that Narnia thing was such a waste of time.

Getting close...

I can't believe we are going in less than a month now!!:cool1:

We never even went in the Narnia thing. No interest. :confused3 Hopefully the new POTC thing will be fun!

I know, we are so close now!!!!

Oh no!! Did you go to the doctor? I hope you got something to get rid of the strep before you leave for vacation!! Did you get packed today or take a nap??

Feel better!

Hi Shelly-

Yes, I did go to the doctor, and it's definitely strep!:scared1: But, I should be feeling better within a couple of days. So I should be all set for the trip! It's a 10 day antibiotic, so I will still be taking it on vacation.

You will be proud of me- I packed AND took a nice long nap today!:thumbsup2 We are set to go, besides some last minute items. I can't believe we leave in four days!

That is great news!! Well not that you have strep, but you know what I mean! :rotfl: You should be feeling better in a few days and all will be well for the vaca! :goodvibes

And yes, I am very proud!! Wow packing and a nap!! :thumbsup2

I didn't answer it yet. I guess I will and ask them to add "marina view" to my requests since it doesn't look like the pool is going to be open. :sad2: Are you making anymore requests?

Since we are about 4 weeks out, should we start thinking about what to pack???

Being that this is our first time in Florida in December it is making figuring out what clothes to take kind of hard. :upsidedow We have however been in November and January, so we do have some idea. And I guess that idea is that anything goes!! :crazy2:

Winter can be very unpredictable in Florida. One year we went in November and it was some of the most awesome weather we have had at WDW – most days in the upper 70's and low 80's and wall to wall sun!! We went the following year in November (same week) and it was freezing!! :cold: Okay, maybe not literally freezing, but still. :faint: It was very chilly and very windy. I would say the temps were in the 60's most days. And even though that should be warm to someone from PA, it wasn't. Those of you who have been to WDW in the cooler temps probably understand. Something about the humidity I think. Humidity and cooler temps and wind just don't make for a comfortable day to be walking around outside all day. And it would have been fine had we been prepared. But when it said temps in the 60's I just packed us light jackets. Not knowing that what we really needed was heavier coats and hats & gloves. The mornings & nights were down-right cold!

Which brings me to our January trip. Somehow we survived it more comfortably than we did that chilly November trip! We were better prepared I think. Took more pants, coats, gloves, etc. The morning we arrived the temps were in the upper 30's. With a high of 55 that day. :faint: But each day we were there it got warmer and warmer and by the end of the week it was 80 and we were swimming!!

So who knows what to expect in December......Which makes trying to pack ahead of time nearly impossible! :( Which most of you know will drive me crazy!!

I'm thinking (hoping) I can take/wear a lot of capri's. Even shorts or dresses some days!! :wizard: But the reality is that we are likely going to be wearing a lot of pants/jeans. Yuck!! Somehow it just doesn't seem right wearing jeans in WDW. :sad2: But I do know this – I will not go unprepared again like we did that one November trip. Nope, we will have coats and gloves with us no matter what! Which brings me to packing. :faint: How many bags will we take??? The last 2 trips have been when it has been extremely warm – August and May. So there was no need for coats and pants at all. Which was wonderful, less to pack and drag along! So the last 2 trips we have each gone with 1 carry-on and then only checked 1 bag total! So nice to only have 5 bags to worry about. But thinking back to our Nov and Jan trips, I think we had to check 3 bags total. And it doesn't matter – we are flying with SW and they will be free, but it's just the thought of taking all that crap with us that bugs me!! :crazy2:

Up Next: More clothes talk, but with pics!

I hear you on not knowing how to pack. At least you have sort of an idea. I've only ever been in August, so January will be quite the shock!

I can't wait to see and hear what you are planning on packing.
I'm a nervous wreck over it!!!!

M keeps telling me that it's going to be warm- and I'm like, uh yeah, I don't believe you.:rotfl:

That's good that you get bags flying free this trip. It will be nice, even if the thought of packing it all is miserable.

Hoping for some warm weather, but not SUPER warm. I want it to be a little cool, but not too cool. :confused3 Not sure what would be perfect but maybe in the upper 70s in the day and in the 60s at night?

:lmao:

Yeah, it'll happen. :crazy2:

It is so much harder to pack for a cooler weather trip!! :( You just have to take a little bit of everything I guess. :upsidedow

I am fretting over it a bit myself!! :crazy2:

I hope Mark is right and it is WARM!! ::yes:: But yes, not too warm. A little bit cooler is going to be a nice change after the last few trips. I just don't want to be cold! :faint:

Yes about 78-80 during the day and sunny. And about 68-70 in the evenings. I think that would be perfect! :thumbsup2

:goodvibes

Your ticker says 4 WEEKS!!!:santa::santa::santa::santa:

:yay: :yay: :yay: :yay:

I know what you mean...December is tough to pack for! I am having a hard time finishing my packing for this week. I checked and the weather is supposed to be in the high 70s / low 80s, but cooler at night. I am packing a combination of shorts/capris, along with a couple of pairs of pants for at night. I think I have all types of weather covered, just in case. I tend to be an over-packer.:rotfl: Last November the first night was in the high 40s / low 50s, and I certainly was not prepared for that!

Well, I think I will get back on here tomorrow, but if not, I will check in from WDW! Our flight departs at 6:00 AM on Tuesday, so the shuttle is picking us up from home at 3:50 AM.:faint: Tomorrow we don't have school, but it's still going to be a busy day!

Well your weather sounds like it is going to be fabulous!! :goodvibes But yes, it's better to be safe than sorry - better take some pants and jackets just in-case.

We have a super early flight out for this trip as well. It's going to be rough. But way better than getting in late like we did last time. That was the worst!! :sad2:

I hope you have a magically wonderful and safe trip! pixiedust: Check in when you can, we will all be looking forward to it. Hope the GF isn't too torn up. :wizard: Have fun!! :cool1:

Holy Moly talk about being late to the party :faint: It is going to take me days to catch up :rotfl:....................

26 days!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm so excited...I feel like I'm going to burst!!! I have not started packing but, have started looking at the weather...my phone has a forecast through 11/22...right now through Thanksgiving it's unseasonably cold so, I think in another a couple of weeks we should get a better idea. It's so true...you NEVER know what December at WDW can bring. Every year we have gone (except April 2009,) we've gone during the same week in DEcember...in 2007, hot and sunny...we spent a day at Blizzard beach; in 2008 cooler, cloudy, one day of pouring rain; in 2010 FREEZING!!! 40s during the day...20s at night!!! I'm crossing my fingers for 2007 weather!

I know, it's coming so fast!! :cool1:

Oh wow you have me scared!!! :scared1: Those 2010 temps are downright awful. Let's hope for your 2007 temps! :wizard: ::yes::

I talked to Shawna yesterday (Disney Mommy 3) and they are having a great time! :goodvibes She said the weekend was kind of crowded, but yesterday was great. They even got a sneak peak at the new FantasyLand! And they are having awesome weather. :cool1:

So here's what I am thinking............. We will be taking a little bit of everything!! :faint:

If temps are in the 70's DH and the boys will be fine with wearing t-shirts, shorts, socks and sneakers. Mens and boys shorts are so long anyway, that they will be fine. If we happen to get warmer temps then they can break out the flip flops!! :woohoo: If it's colder than that then I guess they will be in jeans. :sad2:

As for me – IDK!! :upsidedow

I still get cold with temps in the lower-mid 70's. So maybe capris?

I will probably take at least 4-5 pair.

And if temps happen to break into the 80's, then the shorts will be coming out!! :cool1:

Summer-Fall2012033-2.jpg

And for shirts, it's going to be hard. Guess I will be taking a few tanks, some short sleeved, and a few lightweight sweaters....
