Well i hope i am doing okay and havnt bored you silly. The next two days come together as we didnt do a lot just chilled out shopping before hitting our first park.

Alison and Dave continue their adventure.....

Thursday November 7th 2002.

I awoke several times so got up at 6.30am to make a cuppa, dh still dead to the world, he is not a morning person at all. Watched the weather and news then had a shower. Dh surfaced at about 8.00 so after getting ready we went for our first breakfast of the holiday. We deceided to try our favourite from our last trips the ponderosa. Amazed to find it was still the same $3.99 from 4 years ago. As usual it was a very good buffet with excellent service, last trip we had 99% of our breakfast here, but due to "discovering the Golden Corral" alliegence was soon moved.

On our first day we always have a easy driving around day
to get the feel of things time. We first headed to one of our favourites the good old Walmart. I had forgotten how huge these places were and we spent several hours in this one, quite a bit of that time looking at wonderment at their array of christmas lights.

I brought one of the Brita filter bottles as i dont like the taste of water from the fountains, but after assembling it found it to be too bulky to cart around the parks, also not the easy to use as you have to force the water through the filter in the neck of the bottle whilst trying to drink it, gave up and went back to buying bottles in the end. Only cost $6.00 so didnt waste much money.

Brought some milk, juice, fruit, nibbles, a very large container of water and some beer and headed back to the hotel to do the washing from the cases that had got wet inside yesterday.

The hotel laundry was very clean, good machines and driers and even a machine to give you change. Then we relaxed around the pool for the rest of the afternoon.

We had a meal in the hotel bar/restaurant Hurricane Sams and we were not that impressed, although it was quiet the service was slow and the food luke warm.

Went back to room to watch Jeopardy, wheel of fortune and Law and order. We both slept solid till next morning. This hotel is very quiet and it stayed that way the whole time.

Purcheses:-

DAVE from walmart, 7 pairs of Jeans and 5 t shirts

ALISON ever practical, mugs for the room, tigger slippers for niece and postcards and stamps to send home.

Thoughts. Although a lot of people hit a park on the first day we find it suits us to chill and climatise a bit then find we are ready and raring to go. This hotel supplies a decent sized fridge in its rooms which was a god send and at no extra charge, also have a very good digital locking safe.

FRIDAY 8TH NOVEMBER.

I was up early again and after watching the news and weather read the local paper which is delivered each day, very helpful as it has a section on the theme parks in it with hints and tips. Wrote first of postcards home to the folks.

Today we discovered the Golden Corral and although their breakfast was $6.49 the buffet compared to Pondi is outstanding with omlettes and eggs cooked to order and impeccable service throughout, and a huge selection of steaming hot items on offer as well as warm cinammon roll. if you eat here you must try these.

We had deceided to have another easy day as we had time to play with this time.

We visited the Old Town which is worth a walk around but nothing to write home about. There is a Brit shop selling british goods at a price, we paid over the top for a british newspaper a couple of times just to see what was going on back in England. Next stop was an indoor flea market, wont say anymore but we would not return here if paid to......next stop Lake Buena vista for a good look around and then a flying visit to Downtown DIsney, just so i could go to the Disney shop, love this place, and spent the usual small fortune.

On the way back to the hotel we stopped at the Black Angus steakhouse for dinner. This is one of the best steaks we have ever had, a bit more expensive than others but melt in the mouth. The service was excellent and the buffet salad had excellent choices to go with the meal.

Back to hotel for hot bath and to watch our quota of game shows and once again Law and Order, this was such a good qualtiy show we got hooked on watching it most nights.

Thoughts. Weather today was 79 degrees with a light breeze.

Purchases:-

DAVE 6 more t shirts, shoes and a rather special custom made leather belt from the leather shop in old town, this was one of the better shops there.
