Still without a frosty drink, I was up for whatever establishment could help me out with that. Despite our proximity to the monorail, Char wasn’t real into checking out the food offerings at CR or GF.
And.
She really wanted table service. On Labor Day Weekend. With no ADR.
Oh, and could we maybe try Ohanas?
Yes, that was my actual reaction. I really tried to exercise some restraint, but really – Ohanas? With no ADR? Come on! I suggested, however, that we might try Kona. It was still pretty early and Kona doesn’t seem to get quite as much traffic as Ohana…
So I inquired at the podium and was told we had a pretty good chance of being seated within 45 minutes. Not bad – we decided to give it a try. Worst case scenario, if we got too hungry waiting, we’d dump Kona and go down to Capt. Cook’s.
As we were heading out with our buzzer to find something to occupy our time, a woman caught my attention and pointed toward the LGMH on my bag. It was a DISer!!

ShellyR25, I think, though I never confirmed spelling. And, with the useless board search tool, I’ve yet to figure it out. But I really did meet her. She informed me of a major DIS meet that very evening – they were all meeting to watch Wishes! At the rate we were going, I thought it highly unlikely we’d make it, but it was nice to know my lime green family was out there, somewhere.
After that neat little visit, Char and I rounded up the boys and set off to check out the gift shop, with a little stop to visit the Tiki men on the way.
Only about 25 minutes later, the buzzer-thingy started buzzing and shaking… WE GOT IN!!!!

See – as long as Char was around, our mojo was cookin’.
Now, remember – I was just at Kona a week and a day earlier for Lapupalooza. Returning to the scene of the crime was kind of, well… surreal. Especially since they seated us at a table
right next to the infamous Lapu-condo table! No, I didn’t see our LapuFest server, nor yet the manager who’d had the misfortune of informing us of the lack of pineapples. Which was probably a good thing.
So… what did we eat? Char and I both started off with some yummy drinks:
An Island Sunset for Char…
And a Mai Tai for V…
I think. Frankly, I was so excited to get another of the squishy-faced little tiki glasses we’d swiped at Lapupabooza, I wasn’t paying much attention to what was in it.
Mai Tai have another tiki glass, please! Why, thank you!
No food porn, but here’s what we ate:
Char: Some kind of seafood chowder that’s no longer on the menu. Which is sad. Because it was YUM-O! She also had the Pot Stickers and proclaimed them delicious, as well.
V: The same crab cakes I’d had the previous week, and they were every bit as good the second time! I also had the Kona Salad with Maytag blue cheese…

is really all I can say about that. I loves me some moldy cheese. TFI.
Harry and Leo: Both had the kids hot dog. I’m guessing they were good, because they were GONE just like that!
Believe it or not, we managed to stop at one drink, (of course, we did have half a bottle of wine waiting in the room, but whatever), and finished up pretty quickly. It was the perfect light dinner with our guys, and we were all feeling pretty happy!
Since we’d eaten so early, we took a little time to really enjoy that, our final day, at the Poly.
Leo is pointing at the castle. He really liked seeing it across the water.
I said it at the time, and I’ll say it now: I am 100%, absolutely head-over-heels in love with the Poly. IN. LOVE. With the exception of SSR, I’ve never felt so relaxed and comfortable at a WDW resort. I don’t love it enough to inefficiently use my DVC points on a stay there, but I sure love it enough to book it again when next they offer a good AP rate and my points are used up for that year! (Trust me – THAT’s not a difficult scenario to imagine.)
Char sweetly reminded me about the DIS meet at the MK, and said she’d be happy to get both boys into bed if I wanted to go. I really appreciated the thought, but I was pretty tired from our day at TL and decided to skip the meet. We once again set up our “living room” in the entry and finished the wine whilst watching Sex & the City. Good times, good times!
Coming next: Time to go commando.
