Trip Insurance Question?

Well, getting it might make sence, but if i were you, i'd check to see if you already have insurance to cover it. AAA? -- don't they have trip insurance? not too sure, but if i were you, i'd check to see if i already had it. I know we do, and thats why we didn't get disney's. I think it costs somewhere between 100-200 $ depending on length of stay. =)

Thanks we are not a member of AAA but I have been looking at there site a lot, would AAA price be included in membership? or extra? thanks

Most travel insurance policies, cost between 7 - 10 % percent of the price of your trip.
Most companies base the price on your age, cost, & length of your trip.

I think its worth it. We dropped our 400.00 camera and it broke. We had to spend over 100.00 buying disposable cameras. Trip ins would of paid for all of it.
One time we had to leave early, ins pays for that too.

My MIL didnt get her luggage in Italy for 8 days!! She had to buy everything. Clothes, make up...ect...later her ins. paid for all of it.

I think our ins. for a 10 day disney trip was 140.00 through Disney.

We joined AAA when booking our vacation and trip insurance was around $130 for the both of us if I remember correctly. I recommend it just for peace of mind and if anything happens, either before the trip or during, you are covered.

I use access america. you can get a quote on their website. it is based on age, & cost of trip. (assuming you are not going for more than 21 days).

They offer a really good family plan where kids are free. We get this plan even though we do not have kids. It is myself (37) and my mom (64). total cost of insurance for the two of us was $99. It even covers you for a rental car too.

The only thing this plan does not cover is if you have a connecting flight and miss it. If you have a connecting flight you might want the classic comprehensive plan.
If you purchased travel insurance from 14 days of your deposit than pre exisisting conditions are covered. If more than 14 days you are not. We bought it because my dad has M.S. (he is not traveling with us and am taking mom away for a break). But, since we bought it within the 14 days if he has an illness even though he is not traveling we are covered.

When getting a quote put in the total cost of the trip including airfare, land portion, etc. Then they will ask you how many travelers and their ages. It will automatically divide up the total cost of the trip per passenger to give you a price. So say the cost of the trip is $4,000 and there are 4 passengers. That gives a per passenger rate of $1,000 so you are only buying coverage for the adults at the rate of $1,000 per adult.

they are also really good at paying out claims...

I've booked several trips through WDW and the first few times I paid for the insurance because I didn't know it was included. I read on a tip posted that you don't have to take the insurance, so just tell your CM that you don't want it. I've saved several hundred dollars the last couple of trips.

We just booked our first trip home to OKW in Feb. I am thinking we might want trip insurance. It is a family trip and my parents are in their 80s. We do not have flights or anything else. When do we have to purchase our insurance?

What does the insurance with Disney cover? I have read it covers points at $5.00 per point. Anything else?

I would be interested in cancellation insurance due to health problems or weather delays.

We get trip insurance b/c even though you can cancel and get most of your money back right up until the last second, you, like us, are traveling during hurricane season.
I've read the parks are great about that type weather but I am more concerned about flights, etc. $150 is really not that much money when you consider the overall cost of the vacation.

Not sure how the insurance from Disney works with the points. I know when you buy a package through Disney you have to buy the insurance right away. Other companies such as Access America you can buy it anytime, but in order to be covered for pre exisisting conditions you must have purchased it within 14 days of deposit, and be fit for travel at the time you purchase the policy. Each company is different... some companies offer a "cancel for any reason" policy, others do not include weather unless its a delay of "x" amount of hours, etc.

Some big companies that come to mind that you could check with are;
Access America & Travel Guard.
