I'm planning an August trip to the World. In 2004 we traveled in between hurricanes Charley and Jean. Our flight on Southwest was cancelled and we wound up booking on Delta to ATLANTA and driving the rest of the way. Just wondering if trip insurance would have covered this? Southwest would not have been able to get my family of 5 to Orlando for at least 4 days then. I'm willing buy the insurance this time and get the trip refunded if my flight gets cancelled. Rebooking cost me $1000, I can't afford that this time around. Any thoughts? I've heard the disney insurance is not the best, any suggestions?
Thanks

We scheduled to go down last February to do our wedding planning session. Of course, my luck, that was the only snow storm we had of the entire season! Thank goodness my DH got the trip insurance. Because the air line cancelled our flights we were refunded 100% of our entire trip! I now reccommend trip insurance to every one!:thumbsup2

First you have to read the coverage on the particular policy to see if it is one that covers your needs. The policies do vary, and you do not have to use the company that is recommended when you buy your packages.

There are many choices out there. Last year, I used Access America because of the Job Loss coverage. That was then, I declined the same coverage this year, because it is very early hurricane season when we visit, and we are not flying this year.

Point is. What was worth it last year, is not so much this year. I'm taking my chances and the odds are I won't need it. Still, I will feel like a donkeys butt if the first hurricane of the year hits during our visit, or I lose my job next week. Actually it's all paid now, so only a disaster would keep us from making it happen at this point in time.

Usually there is a certain window after booking until you must buy, or lose out on the opportunity. Do some googling to see what might be available, and compare the policy against what you are offered.

I purchased my airline tickets online through AirTran. I also purchased their insurance which was about $60 for all four of us. Besides canceled flights it covers trip extensions ( like the year we were in Orlando during the biggest snow storm on the east coast!). As we are again travelling in December, I thought it was worth it.
