Trip insurance or not????

I was wondering what everyone's thoughts on trip insurance are?? AAA wants like $66 per adult at the final payment. I did it last time but didn't know if I should spend the $ this time. Could I get it anywhere else cheaper?? I am going the end of September which could still be considered hurricane season. Would this cover airfare too which I booked on my own??

short version.

yes, I have used it twice, once for medical problems with DW at WDW.
(insurance paid for doctor visit to room, after health insurance )

once when I had to extend stay by two days due to hurricane. It paid for my room, and the small fee the airlines charged to change my tickets.

The company was the one that Disney includes with their packages.

get it on your own to include your other incidentals.
I'd suggest going to insuremytrip.com to compare. They offer all the major insurers, some will cover pre-existing if you get it within 21 days of deposit or initial payment. If you're traveling w/kids I'd suggest looking at travelex (also listed on the above mentioned site) since they don't charge extra for kids 16 and under... a big savings.
Also with the listing the premium is for the whole traveling party, not a pp charge.

You might also want to check your CC's -- some have trip insurance included when you charge the trip on that CC.

We use insuremytrip.com and most plans offered do not charge for kids when purchasing coverage for the adults.

I am a firm believer in trip insurance! On the 4th of July I found myself at the ER in the middle of the night followed by 4 hours of surgery and 5 days in the hospital. If our trip to Disney World had been at that particular time, we would have lost a lot of money!

I look at this way: I am spending thousands of dollars on a trip so why not spend the extra $80 to cover my investment? You just never know what could happen. Better to be safe than sorry.

I have a family member that is a TA and I asked her about it. She said deff get travel insurance. The stuff Disney offers is great she said.
