Trip insurance for possible Covid quarantine

I was looking at policies that would cover me if I would test positive in Canada and have to quarantine for 14 days. I chatted with an agent at insuremytrip.com, and she told me that I would only be covered if I was actually symptomatic and a doctor said I was too ill to travel. Just testing positive and being asymptomatic, even if by order of the Canadian government saying I couldn't travel, would not grant me coverage for quarantine. Anyone have experience with purchasing travel insurance for this purpose? Her answer just didn't make sense to me.

New one on me. Positive is positive. Being symptomatic or asymptomatic has zero impact on you being contagious to others.

Yes, I'm going to shop around. We went back and forth several times on the topic and how it didn't make sense what she was telling me, but she was insistent. Hope she's wrong.

I agree you should shop around, or at least carefully read the fine print of your policy. I got bad food poisoning on my Wonder cruise a couple of weeks ago and was confined to my cabin for 40 hours. When I got home I checked my policy in regards to quarantine and it said that it is covered if you have to quarantine by order of an official government entity. I don’t see how the Canadian government making you quarantine wouldn’t qualify in that scenario, regardless of symptoms or ability to travel. So I would ask for more clarification. Maybe another agent would be more knowledgeable?
