Trip from hell update

"This site for years has had the "Disney Lovefest People" who think it is just terrible to say anything negative."

This is one of the "happier" boards because most of the posters here have spent tens of thousands of dollars to visit a place they love and stay resorts they are proud of. But this board is also similar to several other Diz boards in that some posters are always positive and some are always negative. A thread like this one is the perfect oppotunity for both sides to butt heads.

I want to know when, where, and what type of problems occur within DVC and Disney. But to just keep going over the same bad experience for weeks, just does not seem productive, to me. :o

Hopefully, you'll eventually get the resolution you seek. But, until then, I'm going to ignore further "Trip from Hell" threads until I see "Trip from Hell: Final Chapter".

Good Luck

Trishy,

Well said. I couldn't agree with you more. Unacceptable accomodations are just that.......unacceptable and not to be tolerated. Ants in any form or fashion are unacceptable if there are more than just a few that could just be a fluke. We all know though that when there is just a few there are more lurking somewhere! Big (Army?) ants that ended up in our car in the BC parking lot last August was also unacceptable. Our car was LOADED with them, there were not just a few. If I had to guess I would guess there were at least 300 ants in our car. Truly it was GROSS and took a whole can of raid to get rid of them. They were crawling EVERYWHERE including the ground, ceiling of the car, etc. I have an extended van so there was plenty of room to roam around!

I wish to say I am sorry to the OP that so much grief was given and I am truly grateful for your heads up so that the next time my little children are not put in danger.

OP I too felt attacked and questioned when we had a bad experience last August (aside from the ants) and I posted it. So much so that I deleted the whole post and would not discuss it any further. Let the people that want to stick their head in the sand and not acknowledge when there is room for improvement or tweaking. It is a free country and everyone is entitled to their opinion. However, I wonder when people will begin to "get it", before or after our property value goes downhill because no one wanted to "complain" but a select few and management just viewed them as whiners who were looking for something for free and not as people who had valid concerns.....

What a shame if this was what Disney and all others really believed. Really how sad!

OP please let us know your final outcome. I too am done with this post until your final post appears.

I have been going to okw for now 11 years and I have never had a problem .. quess I am just lucky.. knock on wood.....dave

The post was suggesting I was being insulting. I think it was read much like someone might say "if you don't like it, sell your DVC membership" and that was not what I was saying. I was simply stating that ants are a fact of life in FL as in much of the Southeast and Southwest. As are sharks, Jellyfish and drownings in the Oceans here. I agree that I don't think it should be routine but I've seen nothing to suggest it is. Besides, if the OSHA requirements make it difficult for them to spray inside, that will make i more difficult to control them than ever.

I apologize if anyone thought I was saying in a snide tone not to come, that was not my intention. I also wasn't saying just to deal with it when it happens. Just that ants can and will happen in FL, nor more and no less. The OP poster and anyone else with a major problem with ants in the room should be moved. Sorry if I came across the wrong way. Hard to write and get things across sometimes.

Dean, I did not find your post insulting or wrong, nor did I take it to mean you think everyone should just accept the ants. I understood you to say, ants and bugs etc. are a way of life in the South. Everyone, including Disney has to deal with them at some time. As long as Disney is dealing with the problem, that is all I ask for them to do.

I also expect them to fix the seats at the table and feel confident they will.

It is unrealistic to think in a subtropical climate you won't experience bugs. I think that was your point.

very well said, trishy.
from what i understand, twinmomplus2 seems to want (1), (2), and also

(2a) some sort of affirmation that a problem exists, and that Disney will work on correcting the problem to prevent it from ever happening to any other guests in the future.

at least that is what i would expect if it happened to me.
i might even go so far as to ask for some sort of refund of the expense for staying at BCV. unfortunately, because DVC Members use points to "pay" for our stays, this is probably logistically difficult if not impossible.

in any case, i think those expectations are perfectly reasonable. but it is clear many people here don't agree. nor do i expect to be able to change anyone's mind about that.
IMO, being positive all the time or negative all the time about Disney is not good. it's best to have both perspectives, since nothing is perfect (yes, it's true, Disney is not perfect :p ), and that is why these discussion boards are great. we certainly can get many different perspectives here! ;)

everyone should continue to share both their positive and negative experiences here.

All the DIS boards have distinct personalities. You just have to lurk for awhile and learn what to post and where...
If the original thread had been posted on the Community board, it would have been full of {{{HUGS!}}}
If it had been posted on the Rumors board, it would have been hailed as an example of the evil Ei$ner empire trampling the magic.
If it had been posted on the Debate board, it would have turned into a liberal vs. conservative no-holds-barred cage match.
The post got the reaction I expected from the DVC board.
Disagreeing with the way someone handles problems with DVC is not "defending" DVC. IMO, the original post and several others on the original thread were somewhat hyperbolic. I believe the OP had some bad experiences on her vacation. I sincerely hope that the problems she experienced are fixed quickly (I check in at BCV on Sunday!).
I also believe that the OP posted her warning on the DVC board and expected us all to have the same sense of outrage that she was feeling. When that didn't happen, we got pages and pages of posts...
One of the risks of posting one's experiences on a public forum is that someone will actually read and perhaps challenge the voracity of the post. That's not good or bad or "harsh" or "rude"; it's just one of those things we have to live with. Like ants in Florida...
