trip fro hell thats us part 2

I can't stop thinking about those bugs in the room at CSR. That is my favorite resort! When walking around the Ranchos area, I did notice these big horsefly things! Plenty of times I have seen housekeeping witht the dors open (at mods and value). My apartment also opens to the outside and I just can't imagine just leaving the door open for a long time like that.

Like I said before, the ants are a totally different thing and if anyone should find them in your room, ask to be moved right away!!!

417? Thanks for the response. Okay, I am not doubting you, but I am looking at a map and I don't see a 417 anywhere, I am probably just overlooking it? I see 219/221 are right by the elevators with a view of Ariels courtyard, but I don't see 417. Can you tell me where it is at in the resort?

you sound like a nice person in a series of bad situations

what we try to do in Tampa, if ants get to the kitchen, is to trace them back (they are always in line) to the point of origin, and also find out where they are going, and address both ends of the problem, such as ant spray where they are entering, and removing food items (one time it was sweet smelling soap) at their destination point.

it is easy to suggest this in retrospect, but it would have avoided moving to two other locations.

I also have to wonder about their solution of baiting the ants - simple ant spray seems to work better.

don't give up - your next trip should be great!!! the odds are with you!!!!

The bugs and broken bench are surely problems which need to be addressed...but I don't see how WDW is responsible for a sick child, or transportation to and from the hospital.

Had the child been injured as a result of WDW's negligence, then yes, of course they should offer, however run of the mill illness is not their fault, nor their responsibility.

Hopefully the next trip will be better.

Anne

I hope you are not serious, Do you actually think that is what this is about? get a grip. I wasn't even entertaining the idea. If the child had broken his neck or fractured his skull you bet your life I would then entertain it. I simply stated it was not my personnel liablity.

Okay... Color me confused? Did I ever say they were responsible for my sick child? Or transport to the Hospitol. Which in fact , If you read my post, The AKL... as well as the manager At Coronado, Renee' could not have been kinder about the baby's situation. As for the room number> we are all drawing a blank. My sil says maybe it was 407. It had a balconey that faced the courtyard. You could see across to the solarium.

you mentioned it being "lawsuit material" on you other thread.

In response to being told it was my fault my child fell. I responded it was liability on the part of beach club. Thats the only nature of the mention lawsuit pretaining to who was liable.

Thanks twinmom... there is a 407 that faces the coutyard.

It's a shame you had such a lot go wrong on one trip. I can understand you're not being happy with the ant problem ( IMHO bugs in general go with the territory in Fl, but ants are definately not nice), I tend to agree that the most likely cause was a previous guest leaving foodstuff around. Once ants find a foodsource they leave a chemical trail for their coworkers to follow, that trail can still be active weeks after the original use and even if it's sprayed there can be recurring problems. It's one of the reasons I'm always VERY fussy about leaving food about but with young children ( and I'm not blaming the OP, I think it more likely it was a previous guest) spills are not always cleaned up and can lead to these problems. I'm not sure what a hotel chain can do about that type of problem, in Florida I think that's always a potential problem.

It's horrible when your child is sick on vacation, I think some people got a litle confused in your posts and thought you were blaming Disney for that, it took me a couple of times reading through to work out you didn't mean that.

I'm still confused on the child injury thing, was the child ( age three am I right?) sitting on the floor colouring and somehow got it's head stuck in a gap, or was it sitting up on the bench seat alone and fell/stumbled/slipped getting it's head stuck? Not sure if all the units have the same seating as I remember , but I'd have thought that was kinda high for a 3 year old to use for that purpose.

Having a child getting sick on vacation ruins any vacation!! We spent a Xmas at Paradise Island in the Bahamas with my then 1 yr old sick, despite how great a resort it was, we just wanted to go home.

I stayed at BWV in a 2-br in Feb. and I have a 1-yr old and a 4-yr old. I can not remember where the kid's head can get stuck. I can see it happenining though. My 1yr old is very adventurous and it has happened to her before:(

I have never seen bugs in the room. However, the balcony is a different story, I remember we stayed at YC for Mother's Day week in 2000 and we could not use the balcony much at all because of these little bugs everywhere.

I hope your next vacation would go better.

The dining configuration at BCV is different than BWV or VWL, in that there is a bench built into the wall with a long oval shaped table. According to what the OP is saying, the cushions that you sit on were not attached and underneath the cushion was a hole just large enough for a small head. When her DS reach between the cushions to get the crayon, the cushion came off and DS went head first into the hole. At least this is how I understand that it happened.

I was just wondering the other day why we seldom see anything bad written. Now I know why....everything happened to you!

Seriously though, considering how God awful it was you did manage to tell it with some degree of humor (laughing with you not at you).

No one deserves what you went through but you can always share with all of us so that it makes you feel a little better.

Next time will be better.....the law of averages ensures it!

I gotta agree w/ Loubon, the first thing I thought of after gasping about the head injury was 'my god, I wish I could be as upbeat as her'. I'm so glad everyone is safe at home now and please don't give up on the BWV's. Never say 'never' is my motto but I can't imagine any vacation being worse than this one. And thank you for the warning about the bench, I'm sure every mom & dad reading your report will think twice and investigate all the villas from now on. Take care, Kim

That is exactly what happened to the baby. As for the humor its either laugh or cry. And I did enough crying in the Celebration ER.

I hope that your kids have recovered from their bug. You weren't the only one having a yucky time at the BCV last week. We were at the BCV from 5/4-5/9. I don't think we'll be staying there again anytime soon either. Our first room was incredibly noisy (studio 560, right by an elevator). We had to move (we couldn't sleep), and our 2nd studio was fine until the family from h@ll moved in next door. Also, SAB was way too crowded, so we only went there once. Overall, it was a pretty disappointing stay. I'm glad that I'm not the only one who wasn't impressed with BCV.

LMAO:p We were in 550 for our 2nd studio, so it wasn't you;) Whoever it was was pretty mad at her kids though, LOL! She was really shouting at them early in the AM:eek:

Here is a photo of the bench and table at the Villas.

So sorry to hear about your sick child. I know you were so scared, especially with that high of temp, I would have immediately been a panic thinking it was SARS.

For any future travelers, while rooms should not be invested with bugs, there are more in first floor rooms due to the fact many guests do not keep the patio doors closed or outside doors closed at moderates and value resorts.

We have seen lizards and even snakes in the first floor hallways due to guests not keeping the doors closed. On some outside doors they now require you use your room ID to get in for security reasons. We saw guests propping them open so they would not have to use their key. Can you imagine what all came in while the door was propped open?

Yikes - lizards and snakes!!!! I would have screamed my head off if I see them in the hallway or my room. Which resort was this?:D
