I have visited Tripadvisor many times and I am looking for opinions... It seems to me that there are so many inconsisitencies. Alot of people really came down on Oak Plantation Villas, and my family and I found them to be rather wrong. I booked the trip and then discovered the Tripadvsior site. I was so freaked out!! :guilty: Do you mean to tell me I just booked my family at a resort with COCKROACHES!! We found the place to lovely and exactly as we had seen through the Expedia website. Has anyone else experienced this?? I read somehwere on here that it is to easy to rebute a bad review with a good and so on. I am starting to believe this is true. How about you?? :confused3

With TripAdvisor it is people's opinions. It's not right or wrong, just their opinions. I read them and try to judge by what is written and how it is written. Some people expect to much and are hard to please. Did just one person say there were cockroaches? It is Florida, there are bugs, maybe they left the door open to long and one crawled in. I would look up the hotel on some other sites and see what they say. Good luck.

People tend to post MORE if they were upset so that influnces the reviews.

Also, my main gripe with Tripadvisor is the lack of "controls". I know of someone who posted weekly using different names on the same hotel.... so it looks like there are LOTS of upset guests when in fact there was ONE upset guest with a vengance.

Also, I have heard, but have no proof, that sometimes owners or employees will post negative things about thier competetion on Trip Advisor.

I post on trip advisor, and many of my family members and friends post on their site. I call it like I see it, I leave my email on my post, so people can contact me about my review, and they do. If someone leaves their email, write them and call them out. I'm not saying everything is correct on trip advisor, but trust me real people post on there. One more thing you believe everything you read on this site?

trip advisor has been on target for me. i have to say years ago we went to a very nice holiday inn that was a 2 bedroom suite that had cockroaches. they sprayed and killed them. (this was virginia beach). we were staying at the nicest hotel also. so i'm sure it happens especially in warm climates.

I agree, I reference trip advisors for GENERAL info not posted on
commercial advertising boards. but people who have had any kind of "bad"
travel experiences, use these kind of boards as their "Venting for revenge"
boards. and I could see how competing hotels could try to trash their
competition. I have traveled quite a bit over the last 18 years, and the
one piece of advice I can give is research extensively, use all means of
information you can, brochures, guidebooks, internet, referrals, and make
your decisions accordingly. do not let one source (ie trip advisors) define
your vacation!

No, but I am leary after the "multiple posting" person. I mean I have about four different email addresses so it would be easy to post negative feedback and give four addresses. Plus you have to try to put yourself in kind of a "observer" status.

I always love the posts where someone stays at a hotel that costs $30 a night and then posts, the room was dirty and there was no service. Well? what were you expecting?

I have used it for Europe hotels and I can usually tell those folks who didn't have a clue. The room was small, with twin beds and no AC as the complaints pretty much means the guest did no research and was expecting an American hotel chain for example.

all opinions are that - personally opinions.

but lately even AAA reviews I question.

they say a place is that same at this place - and I sometimes think this people must be visiting another hotel than what I am.

they put most of WDW hotels in the *** . - but they also put most of Kissimmee in the same ***.

anyway you can use

www.rcicommunity.com

to see the timeshares reviews - just click on resort - put the name of your resort - then go look at what comes up.'

you can also put in your reviews - you just have join RCIcommunity.

You don't have to be a member of RCI to join RCIcommunity. they want as many reviews as possible!!!

i give my trip reports even if good. mine have all been pretty good. and i especially give a trip report on trip advisor.com right away if i had a great place to stay which i did in november. they were right on about the water temp in one hotel on the lower floor in new orleans. however i still chose the lower floor even though they offered to move us up higher.

Thank you all for the response. I guess I was viewing this in an uncorrect matter. Hope you all have a wonderfull weekend!! :flower:
