Recently back from WDW during probably the worst week anyone could choose to be at the(Happiest Place on Earth). But I have to say I wouldn't have wanted to be anywhere else.
This was a last minute trip, Myself, wife, 4yo daughter and 1 yo son. Reservations at the Polynesian, lagoon view Tahiti longhouse.
Arrived on Monday, beautiful room and view (3019) would recommend 3017 or 3018 as a tree partially blocked our view, and headed to MK. Great time, crowds were light to moderate and had to use FP a couple of times.
Tuesday, SEPTEMBER 11. Started out early, light crowds. Caught the Lion King show at MK.
As we were leaving the show, a CM was at the exit, yelling at the top of his voice, "The Magic Kingdom and all Disney parks are now closed! Please exit as quickly as possible through the front gate." I'm thinking what kind of nutcase would say that! Second thought is that the tropical depression in the Gulf sure turned into a hurricane awfully fast. None of the CM's would say why the parks were closed, but as we were leaving the cell phones came in handy and everyone soon found out about the terrorist attacks.
During our exit, everything was fairly calm, if not rushed, and they were passing out free passes like they were pressed pennies. Needless to say, the vacation took a serious downturn at this point.
On the positive side, the Polynesian took extra care of us, put on some extra shows and later in the week I found out that if your flight was cancelled, Disney was allowing you to stay in your resort for free.
Wednesday-Saturday: Parks were open again! Completely empty for the rest of the week. Tropical Storm Gabrielle caused some problems but we just put on our parkas and headed to the parks. Absolutely no waits for anything the rest of the week. They were even asking if you wanted to stay on the rides after you finished. I must have rode Buzz Lightyear enough to wear out a phazer gun.(daughter's favorite)
Other notes: It's a Small world opened on Thursday
Dinosaur is one of the scariest rides I have ever been on
I want to write a note to the higher ups at Disney. Any addresses you can give me would help. Specifically, I am going to recommend that they give some of those free passes to the families affected by the attack in New York.
