Trip #8; But Was It Great? A WDW MAYcation with a side of LegoLand & Celebration, FL!

Hi Shelly! I'm here!

We got back mid-day yesterday. Last night at DD10's softball game, DD19 got bit by some bug, and to put a long story short, her arm pretty much blew up overnight! The spot where the bug bite is was very red by this morning, and a red line went all the way up her arm!:sad2: Needless to say, we went right to the doctor. There, she had to have an IV antibiotic, which gave her a bad reaction (hives). So, she is now on an antibiotic and has another appt. tomorrow at 9:30AM. The doctor thinks it is some sort of spider bite. Never a dull moment!!

But, back to WDW! We had such a wonderful trip, and just loved the Poly. We are already thinking about going back there in February! We will be at the GF in November. I have never seen WDW so crowded though! Rope drop was a must, as were fastpasses. There were tour groups EVERYWHERE. We just tried to avoid them, which did not always work! We had so much fun though. The only drawback of the Poly for me was the CL staff. I promise, I tried to get info out of them about construction. One of the male CMs there said they will be doing construction on the Hawaii building beginning in January, but that's all he said. He claimed he knew nothing about the pool.:sad2: He did say that Tokelau was closed due to low bookings.

The GF is certainly getting it's fair share of construction! I am hoping a lot of it is done by mid-November, but I think that is wishful thinking! But, I cannot thank you enough for your help about the Poly! It is up there with the GF as my favorite WDW resort! The only thing that would hold us back about being back there in February is wanting to be in the Epcot resort area.

Talk to you soon!

Hey I'm here I'm here it's just that I don't have enough time to comment sometimes!!!! :) love the TR.... Love love all the pics....

Another faithful reader still here! I don't know what got into you that made you think we are bored with your TR, but put those :crazy2: thoughts out of your head!

OK, back to business! Love the Epcot and WS update! Those topiaries are awesome - thanks for all the great pics. It still looks very uncrowded around the countries. Japan is especially beautiful.

Now why in the world did you pass on that adorable get-up? What was that thing? :rotfl2:

I'm here!!! Sort of, for a minute or two.

Thank you SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much for putting a smile on my face first thing this morning!! IF ONLY I had've looked on your TR yesterday when I was wailing and gnashing my teeth I would have felt so much better.:lmao: Next time just tell me to shut the heck up and go read the TR.;)

sigh.

Beautiful.

It's beautiful and the pics put me into a peaceful place when I see them. IDK what it is about Epcot--- but I love it when your TR day is that park. (I even had a "Disney Whoooosh"! :rotfl: SO dang excited. ::yes::)

The topiaries were adorable--- it's been so long since I was there during the F&G festival that it's nice to see the new ones!

And I can't believe how empty the park looked. That is what I call a perfect day there!!!pixiedust:

I'm surprised you didn't buy the outfit in Morocco. You could wear it to GE.

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

The old pharmacist behind the counter would LOVE that.:rotfl2:

Did you go into the temple area in Morocco? I really love it in there. It's so quiet and peaceful and beautiful.

Now------------- okay I might be getting a henna tattoo in Dec there. Do you want to get one with me???:dance3:

Thanks for another GREAT update. It was needed something terrible this morning. Now I will think about it all day and smile.

Lauren---
So glad you guys had a wonderful trip and loved the Poly!! Sorry about your DD's arm. I hope she gets well soon- that is just awful.:sad1:

Just so you know--- I think I heard that if you plan on going to the Poly in Feb, they aren't taking reservations for the CL there for all of Jan, Feb and March.

Isn't that right Shelly? I'm pretty sure that's what I read on Tikiman but I could be wrong??

Stupid construction messing with everyone's travel plans.:lmao:

Glad you are heading back to the GF in Nov! I cannot wait to get there in Dec. My kids don't know we are staying there--- it's going to be a total shock to them when we pull up!:thumbsup2

Wow, the Topiaries are so beautiful! I don't think I ever saw one of Woody and Buzz together...very cool :thumbsup2 Can't wait to see what you guys thought of the Yachtsman Steakhouse; it's our all time favorite!

Hi Jodi!:wave2:

DD19 made out well at the doctor today- no more IVs needed! She only has to go back if it gets worse, as she is on an antibiotic now.:thumbsup2

I did hear about the Poly CL not being available for Jan, Feb, and March. I'm kind of bummed out about that, since we loved the Hawaii building so much, but we just loved the Poly, so we may do a regular theme park view room! BWI is our other option.

That GF surprise is going to be so great for your kids! They will just love it.:goodvibes

YAY there are people here!! :yay:

I'm still here too Shelly!
We have been doing summer stuff and it has been crazy busy around hee I feel like I'm non-stop. DS11 was on an All Star B-ball team and let me tell you that was miserable!!:crazy2: Tournaments seem to go on forever!! Both my boys play hockey and it's a huge commitment but at least the games have a starting and ending time. I will take hockey over baseball any time!
I have also been consumed in sending out resumes and such... not one interview yet!! I am trying my hardest b/c I am so scared to move.
We went to the beach today it was lovely- have some peace and quiet now both boys are at friends' houses and DH is at softball:thumbsup2
Love your pics around WS. Now why wouldn't you want that bellydancer outfit??:rotfl2:
I can't wait to go back!!! IF I get a job DH said we can celebrate in Disney!!!! I don't want to get my hopes up though.

Sounds like you have been super busy!! I know 2 boys can do that to you! :faint: Luckily we aren't tied to any sports for most of the summer. DS10's fall soccer will start in about 4 weeks though!

I'm sorry you still haven't found a job. That really stinks. Maybe you'll still get a call. Some schools wait til the last minute. :wizard:

IDK why I didn't get the bellydancer outfit...:confused3:rotfl:

Enjoy your quiet afternoon alone. :cloud9:

Hi. I've been reading your trip report and am enjoying it. Sorry I didn't comment sooner :)

:welcome: So glad you are here and decided to post! :yay:

I'm still here and enjoying your TR. :thumbsup2

 Glad you're still here!!

Welcome home Lauren!! :goodvibes Glad you had a nice trip. Sorry it was so crowded.

Your poor DD! :scared1: That is scary. I hope she is okay.

I'm SO happy you loved the Poly. I had a feeling you might! ::yes:: Too bad the CL CM's didn't know anything about the upcoming construction. :confused3 I didn't find too many of the CL CM's too friendly when we stayed there.

I did read somewhere last week that they closed Tokelau because of low bookings. Seems weird, I would think that would be one of the more popular longhouses.

I hope a lot of the stuff at the GF is done earlier than expected and some of those ugly walls come down!:wizard:

Glad you enjoyed the WS pics. It was not very crowded there that afternoon. I bet Future World was getting most of the crowds then!

I guess it was a belly-dancer outfit. :dance3: Not sure what DH thought I was going to do with it. :confused3:rotfl:

So glad I could give you a Disney Whooooosh! :lmao: Just think -- only about 18 weeks to go!!!!!!!!!:faint:

Wear the outfit to GE!!:lmao::rotfl2: Now that would give this little town something to talk about, wouldn't it?!! :scared1:

I don't think we visited the temple are in Morocco....not that I know of anyway...:confused3:rotfl:

Oooohhhh matching henna tatoos -- woohoo! :thumbsup2 Yep, lets do it!!

Yep, that's what I read -- the Hawaii longhouse will be getting its refurb Jan-March.

I'm still here!!! popcorn::

YAY!! :cool1:

Wow, the Topiaries are so beautiful! I don't think I ever saw one of Woody and Buzz together...very cool :thumbsup2 Can't wait to see what you guys thought of the Yachtsman Steakhouse; it's our all time favorite!

They were really amazing. :goodvibes Just when I thought I'd seen the best one, there would be one better! They were awesome!

Yachtsman is coming up soon. :)

Okay, number 1, I'm still reading too.

and B, I always love a good tour around World Showcase! How did you restrain yourself from buying the jingly belly dancer outfit?

And also, is there anyone who doesn't like Poly? I've always wanted to stay there, but I can't use the DVC there (at least not yet). Maybe after it's all refurbed I'll splurge on a couple nights with a good discount!

Lastly, carry on - I'm anxious to hear about Yachtsman too!

Hi Shelly!
Well, I've just caught up on the 30 pages I've missed! :surfweb: :faint: Too many individual things to comment on, but let me tell you again how much I LOVE your trip reports. I just love all the details you include and all the wonderful photos! I'm sure you've said before, but what kind of camera do you use? They always come out so nice. And you have a great eye for interesting shots. Anyway, thanks for all the work you put into sharing your trips with us. :goodvibes

Hey Kathy! I saw that you posted in the Snowbirds! Long time no 'see'! How have you been??

Glad you are all caught up here and are enjoying the TR and pics. I just use a Sony Cyber-Shot camera, nothing fancy! I love it! :goodvibes

After we were done in Epcot we made our way back to the BC. The room was once again not cleaned properly.

The kids wanted to go swimming, so we changed and headed down to SAB. It was once again loud, crowded, and no open/clean chairs were to be found. We stayed for less than an hour and the kids were asking to go back to the room. I didn't even take any pictures.

It was at this point in the vacation that we had just had enough with the BC and were disgusted with the whole situation. That's when we called the front desk and told them our feelings and tried to get moved to the Poly. But since I already told this story earlier in the TR I won't get into it all again. :sad2:

DH and I had a dinner reservation at the Yachtsman Steakhouse. So I started to get ready and DH took the kids down to the Marketplace for them to get something for dinner.

DS13 got a PB&J uncrustable meal. And DS10 got a pizza Lunchable.

DH and I finished getting ready and headed over to the YC.

We checked in and were seated in about 5 minutes.

On the way to our seats the hostess told us how they cut all their steak right there and pointed to a window where you could see a giant slab of beef hanging from the ceiling. I don't really have too weak of a stomach when it comes to that kind of stuff, but I was thinking that some people might find that pretty gross! :scared1: :rotfl:

It wasn't crowded at all. We were seated at a tiny table for 2, which was nice. But it was in this little recessed/aclove area, in which there as another table for 2, very close. And there was a man sitting at that table by himself. He was there for a conference and had a name tag on and was reading/working during his dinner. It wasn't terrible, DH & I just kind of felt like we couldn't talk without him hearing everything we were saying. He was that close! So it was a little uncomfortable.

Our waiter was very nice and attentive. I had noted our anniversary (which wasn't for a few more weeks) on the ADR and he immediately acknowledged that. He gave us menus that said Happy Anniversary on them and told us we could keep them.

This ADR started out as Le Cellier. Then went to Flying Fish. And finally ended up at Yachtsman. So I was very hopeful that it would be good!

We both ordered the 12oz Prime New York Strip Steak. It came with carmody potato gratin and peppercorn brandy sauce.

The steak was done perfectly, so I was pretty happy there. Unfortunately I didn't really care for the peppercorn brandy sauce that it was smothered in. I could still eat it, but I just wasn't in love with it. DH thought it was just okay too. I think they steak would have been much better just plain! And I usually love just about any kind of potato, but the carmody potato gratin was not good. Way too many onions.

I can only eat about 6 ounces of steak, so a lot of mine went to waste anyway. The waiter commented on it when he took my plate and wanted to make sure I was done. We both said how stuffed we were. He went away for a bit and we assumed he was coming back with the check. But when he came back he had a dessert menu and was trying hard to sell us dessert. I wanted to say – didn't you just see how much food you took away from this table, how on earth could you think I would possibly want more food?!!:faint:

So we politely declined dessert. He came back shortly thereafter with this for our anniversary ~

We had a really nice time. Of course we have a date night so rarely that anytime we get away alone is a nice time! I wish we would have liked the food a bit more. It was very expensive of course. And I don't mind paying extra for a nice experience, but it would have been more worth it if we loved our food. The Yachtsman is a very nice place and the service is great.

Rating: 7 out of 10
Total Bill: $ $93.72

Up Next: An evening at Epcot

hhmmmm I am sure Mike would like the steak,..but maybe we would ask them to leave the brandy sauce off...we don't like stuff on ours either...this might be a good place to try....
