I woke up around 6 a.m. Today I was going to try EE at the AK. I figured that I wouldn't be there much past 11 with the expected high temperature hitting the mid 90's and I was due to meet Chris and Jen for lunch at Fort Wilderness. Due to a rough night's sleep thanks to back pain, I didn't make it out of my room exactly when I wanted to. I was on my way to the bus around 8:20.

Speaking of buses, a few words about the AKL bus top. It's quite a hike from my room. Well everything is quite a hike actually. The smokers are put in the Zebra section and I'm almost all the way at the end of the Lodge. POFQ has spoiled me with its close proximity to everything. Even the All Star's are more feet friendly.

I was off to the Safari first. Grabbed a FP for a return trip and got on the ride in about 10 minutes. It started out OK but a young boy of about 3 had been quietly crying before we even left. About 5 minutes into the ride he was in hysterics. Felt back for him but would have liked to dope slap the parents. The wailing went on for nearly 15 minutes until he finally fell asleep.

When the ride ended, I hung out in Harambi for a half hour. Watched the African drummers and then used my FP for a second ride. Saw lots of animals but nothing unusual happened. At least it was much quieter.

By now it was nearly 10 a.m. and I had to be out of there by 11 so I zipped over to Asia. I came across the Creeping Vine on the way and stayed to watch it for a while. It's amazing and what fun to watch people's expressions.

Not having much time, I decided to only do the trail and on the way to it I had a nice surprise. I love watching birds and got to see some sort of native flicker or woodpecker. I'll have to look it up in my bird book when I get home.

The trail was very crowded and by now it was getting very hot. I didn't stop at all except to see the bats. I'll be going back next week and hope to see more then.

I got back to the hotel, left the scooter and caught a bus for the MK. I was meeting Chris and Jen for lunch at the Trailside Buffeteria at 1 p.m. The bus ride to the MK took nearly 30 minutes but I was able to get right on the boat to FW and arrived only a few minutes late.

Lunch was super with a nice variety and great service. The fried chicken was especially tasty. After we ate, we went out to see the peacocks. Besides the generic colorful male, they had one that was pure white. It was breathtaking and I took many pictures. Then it was back to the hotel to try and catch up on some of the sleep I lost last night.

Waking about 4, I got ready to leave for EPCOT. Tonight was the reason I booked this trip… Paul Revere and the Raiders! I got way down in the theater and had great seats. Because I'm changing hotels tomorrow, I thought I might just watch the 7 p.m. show and then return to pack, etc. Five minutes into their show I knew there was no way that was going to happen. There were fantastic!! I video taped the entire performance. While I was waiting for show #2, I went to have a cigarette and ended up talking to a lady who moved down to Florida 10 years ago from NY. She was very informative and told me how glad she was that she moved. With any luck I'll be telling some one that in just over a year.

Next I got something to drink and then met up with Chris and Jen who had come to see the second show. They thought the group was fantastic as well. Kicks, Hungry, Cherokee Nation. WOW their lead singer can really put out a song and OMG, what a babe!!

We left as soon as the show ended and headed to the exit. Because it was pretty crowded, it took a while and the fireworks started just as we got to the bridge between WS and FW. This provided a unique view of the display so we watched them for a bit. Then it was back to the hotel, arriving at 9:35. I got something to eat. I had skipped supper because I was still full from the buffet at Fort Wilderness. Then it was back to the room to finish packing. Being so hyper from seeing the great shows, I didn't fall asleep until midnight.

High Points: Trailside Buffeteria. The peacocks The lady I spoke with from New York.

Low Points: Lack of variety at The Mara, the AKL's food court. The bus with little to no air conditioning we had on our return from the MK.

Weird Points: The Creeping Vine, the lizards with the red puffy throats, the biting bugs that make you itch like crazy, the woodpecker like bird at the AK.

Best Point: Paul Revere and the Raiders!!!
