I know part of this is me being older...
Of course, Disney always sold trinkets and rides exited in gift shops even when I was a kid!
However, I remember the quality just being better overall. I'm not saying they don't sell some nice things; the do! But, there is a lot of crap as well. As a kid I loved the PotC gift shop! I remember buy a gun, a skull and other stuff that was heavy and made of wood or metal. The Skull was like picking up a rock!
Also, it seems like almost every shop has the same thing! I remember when different shops or locations carried different items. Some shops do have themes, but you can still basically find the items at other locations.
Again, I know it's part of any tourist attraction... And, again, maybe it's a part of me just getting older, but I feel like there is more quantity and less quality in the parks.
