It's an inflammation in your finger and the shaft around your tendon needs to be "released".
I had this procedure done in June on my right thumb and now am going to have it done on my left thumb this Thursday -- outpatient procedure. They makea small slit and just snip the shaft around the tendon and "release" it.
My right thumb is great now. Can't wait until Thurs to get this left thumb done. It's so painful! It also "locks" your finger in either an open or a closed position and you have to "force" it to open or close. Very frustrating.
You can't grasp anything and, in the case of your writing hand, you can barely write.
Anyone else ever have this?
