Tried Pop...not a huge fan

We had no problem with housekeeping at Pop earlier this month. Even the floor (which we had a problem with during our previous stay in a refurbished room) was clean every day. Housekeeping had always visited our room by the time we returned mid-afternoon.

Where we had issues was at the Polynesian. Housekeeping did not visit our room by mid-afternoon (despite requesting morning housekeeping). We left for dinner and returned a few hours later to discover housekeeping had not been to our room at all. It was late, we were tired, so I just dumped the trash and assumed housekeeping would be in the following day. Nope. Same story, so when we left for dinner, I called the call center and requested housekeeping come to our room while we were out for the evening. We returned and housekeeping had not been to our room. I immediately called again. The person who answered promised to have housekeeping there immediately. Almost an hour later, no housekeeping. We ended up at the desk to complain. The manager there immediately called and sent housekeeping to our room. While housekeeping was in our room, the manager, as an apology, took my DD to the gift shop and let her pick out whatever she wanted. It ended well for my DD, even if she was up WAY past her bedtime that night! We had no problems with housekeeping after that night.

I will add that my DD has a medical condition that at times leaves her very fatigued and in need of extra rest. At check-in I spoke to a manager, informed them of this, and requested two things: 1) morning housekeeping and 2) not to be disturbed during the afternoon so that my DD could get the rest she needs. Pop Century did a great job with this request, not so much at the Polynesian.

We have had clean room issues at a deluxe as well, so not a resort issue but it is a mousekeeping issue. I have noticed a decline with mousekeeping over the past 14 years.
So true! I remember the elaborate towel animals and set ups that we came back to everyday. Not just a mickey head, but really elaborate things. Very clean rooms, too. That seems to be a thing of the past.

Yes, it's sad that Disney banned towel animals. They still have them on the cruise ships, and we love them. I always tip mousekeeping very well day by day, and I've noticed elegant towel arrangements occasionally being left afterwards, but never in the shape of an animal. I'm sure they've been warned not to make any animals no matter what.
