Tried Pop...not a huge fan

I definitely would've went to the front desk and asked for a manager. It's not right it happened in the first place, but they would've made it right. As PP said calling the number from the room won't do much good.

Sorry you had a bad experience at Pop! :sad2:It's one of our favorite resorts but we've never had any issues like that. We really enjoy the new rooms and didn't feel any extra cramped with the bed down.

I liked the storage space in bathroom and found my bed to be very comfortable.
Just so cramped with 2 adults using 2 beds.

We stayed at Pop twice, the first time was pretty bad, musty dirty room, we walked right back to the font desk to express our concerns, the font desk staff said they could not promise another room would be any better. The second room was actually clean.

The second time, we decided the first time must of been a one off, so after a few stays at other hotels we tried it again. The staff wasn't very friendly, bus service was bad and the rooms again not clean, actually had dirty sheets when we checked in.

We wont be back.

Got back today.

Will never stay again.

Bus service was terrible. Cleanliness was very lacking.

Still had a great time!

We have stayed in a value a few times. Last time was just two nights split before moving to AKL.

So... I'm about to say something horribly elitist, and that saddens me as I'm a very blue collar work with my hands kinda guy, and yet...

The worst part of our stays at values has always been our fellow guests. Lot of reasons for this I'm sure, and you get bad eggs in mods and deluxe resorts too but too much awful behavior at the values. Way more unattended kids. Loudness well into the night. Two cases of someone changing a baby poolside, on two different trips, and not just a wet diaper either.

And every stay at a value has included one AC system failure. To be fair, our AC at AKL died our last night there so it can happen anywhere.

Sorry to hear about the bad experiences. I stayed at the Pop last year and will say that I had a clean room. The housekeeping staff was really friendly, and greeted me each day with a smile when I walked by them. So I guess that part of the experience was a hit for me.

I don't really like the decor or room layout of the value resorts. (And really not room layout at even the moderate resorts.) I just don't feel like you can enjoy the view outside your room when there are people walking by and peering into your window. So I always chuckle when they charge $40 more for a "water view." I guess I'd prefer to pay extra if I could actually enjoy it.

But the value resorts do serve a great function: a less expensive place to stay on property. Personally, I haven't decided if I prefer to stay offsite at the same price in a much nicer hotel... but that's a whole other discussion about the Disney bubble.

If you are really looking to save some cash and spend little time in your room it's a nice little room.
But I am not in love.
Upon arrival, our room was not clean. Sheets looked new. But bugs, hairs and dirty Kleenex were everywhere.
If you have the Murphy bed pulled down, you can hardly walk in the room. I had to walk sideways to get to bathroom. And I am not a large person.
I do like that they updated. But not my cup of tea.
That's weird. I've gone to Pop for years and that has never happened. It's just the freak thing; I'm sure it won't happen again. I would imagine that the Murphy bed would make it hard to walk, and if you can't stand that, yeah, that might not be good. But get this: the All Stars are all getting the same arrangement, I believe.

We have had clean room issues at a deluxe as well, so not a resort issue but it is a mousekeeping issue. I have noticed a decline with mousekeeping over the past 14 years.
My issue at deluxe: Last year I stayed at Polynesian Club Level. Checked into the room, was all nice and clean except the toilet had numerous large grayish brown spots inside that looked really gross. Have never seen a stained toilet anywhere in WDW. Talked to front desk, they sent a maid who scrubbed it for about half hour, spots still there. Maid said nothing else she could do, left. Spots still there when I checked out.

Somehow I find this very hard to believe. I was just there in Feb and one day mousekeeping didn't come to our room. I called and not even 10 minutes later a hk was at my door with a huge stack of towels and asked if I wanted our room cleaned. We were tired so I asked for trash taken out. The next day, once again no mousekeeping so I called and yes, a call center picks up. However, 5 minutes later the hk manager called my room, apologized and even credited me back a night. After that, no issues at all. They even called me again to make sure everything was going well with my room. We were there for 10 nights and personally enjoyed our stay. Beds are super comfortable and the new room was just right for us. We never had to walk sideways. The only thing we disliked is the shampoo/conditioner/body wash dispensers. But we founds those at CSR too so its not a Value thing, it's the new cheap trend all around, I guess.

I called from the room. The CM , literally, said "That's too bad."
I was like, uh...what? Ok.

I had Lysol wipes with me and cleaned up.

Still had a great timr!

Sorry you didn’t like it. I am still here at Pop (have been here over a week) and have had great bus service. I have heard that the construction on the Osceola Parkway has caused some bus delays, but I haven’t personally experienced it. I still prefer the designated queues to the free for all at the moderates.

My room has been very clean except for the floor. I was in my room two days when housekeeping came and they swept the floor with a broom and then did the dry Swiffer. Until they go to some sort of wet cleaning the floors will have issues. I expect this to be a problem at the other resorts that have gone to hard flooring if they do not use some sort of wet cleaning. I can’t really blame the housekeepers if they aren’t given the proper tools.

Glad you had a good time in spite of the hotel.

The room should be clean, but I agree with you about the refurbishment. POP used to be my favorite value resort, but I do not care for the new beds and the "wood" floors were awful. After walking around the room after a shower, my feet were dirty. Never did care for the All-Stars and AoA has limited regular rooms, so I guess it will be moderate from now on.

I wish they would use a wet solution on the floors.

However, I think ALL resorts are going to those floors now, correct? So, can't escape it..

FWIW - Pop is my 2nd favorite resort after AKL. Going again in 55-ish days. First time in the rehabbed rooms...hoping I love it. My kids getting bigger...will probably have to figure something out for more space... or at least another sleeping space.

Sideways?! How can that be ADA compliant?
When you put the Murphy Bed into its upright position and it's ADA compliant. For someone with mobility issues do not get a room with the Murphy Bed.

I have to agree. Other guests were a huge part of my disappointment in the stay at Pop.

While I don't find much hard to believe anymore, your experience more closely resembles mine. Even at the value resorts, Disney has been very good about handling issues that arise. Calling the helpdesk has occasionally provided us a somewhat 'distant' response but asking to be connected with someone on-site has always worked.

Oh, they don't use anything wet on the floors? Do you know how they clean them?

And I think traveling with my adult daughter is the reason why it felt SO small. Would have been no big deal if she was still little. Well, the room size. No matter what I was unhappy with cleanliness.

That is seriously what they said on the phone. At that point I was too tired to walk to front desk
It was almost 1am.
And I didn't feel the need to go to front desk in morning since I cleaned myself.

I did call for towels once and they were at my door in minutes. That was impressive.

Thats a shame. That rep didn't do their job right, some ppl shouldn't work in customer service.

I have found over time that my first line of defense seems to be different than a certain percentage of people on the Boards-not intended to be a negative just an observation.

I would not even think to call for an unclean room. Like that's not even a thought in my mind. For more toilet paper in anticipation of Irma? Yes we called housekeeping. For an unclean room--nope it's straight to the front desk. That's not even thinking about call center, etc. It's just what I would do as the first thing to go back to the front desk to speak calmly and politely that the room assigned to me is not ready to be assigned to me or any other guest at the present moment.

OP I'm glad your overall trip was good. Seems like you didn't let the POP issues and dislike of the room configuration get you down. Hope your next trip should you have one is good as well (and the hotel part be a better experience).

Yes, I spent a week at Pop once and really disliked the room, although the grounds were lovely. Our room wasn't dirty, just small, drab and not too comfortable.

The values are just Disney-themed motels. For those who don't like staying at motels on vacation, they're not a good choice.
