**Never mind! I finally was able to get it to go through!

The price we ended up with is $4,252.72 including tax for 2 adults, a 17 & 18 yr. old. This is category 9, deluxe oceanview. Does that sound like a decent price or not? Sailing date October 7, 2006 for 7 nights on the Magic. This doesn't include airfare, transfers or trip insurance.

We got room 2034, deck 2. Anyone have info on this room? Good or bad?

Yikes! Now that I made the commitment it sounds like a lot of money!!!!

Your price is the same price as going directly through Disney - so it is not bad but it is not a discounted price. Did you get any kind of onboard credit or rebate? Usually, TAs who charge you "rack rate" offer that as an incentive.

I don't know if your dates are at all flexible, but there are several sailings close in date to yours that would save you some money. For example, one week later on the 10/14 sailing, you could save $500 for the same room etc. For the 9/16 sailing, you could actually get TWO category 9 rooms (great with 4 adults to have the extra bathroom and storage space) for $100 LESS than you are paying for the one room you have on the 10/7 sailing. I booked the 9/16 sailing (2 category 8 rooms) with Dreams Unlimited and got another $900 off Disney's price (they have some group pricing available for a limited number of rooms on that cruise). So you could possibly save quite a bit more and have 2 rooms to boot. If you really want the traditional Western itinerary (the 9/16 goes to Castaway Cay twice and Costa Maya and Cozumel), you could go on the 9/9 Western and once again get TWO category 9 rooms for $40 LESS than your 10/7 cruise or you could get one category 9 room for $840 LESS than your 10/7 price.

All of the prices I quoted above are straight from Disney's website - you would probably be able to beat those prices with a TA who had group space or offered a good rebate/onboard credit.

Of course, all of this is moot if you are locked into that one week in October. But if you are not, then you may want to consider another week to save some money (or get two rooms!).

Hope this helps and happy cruising!

Thanks for the info. I didn't know at the time that the price was rack rate. The e-mail I got said Travelocity was having a cruise sale. So I ended up canceling the Travelocity one and now I'm waiting to receive a quote from DU.

I actually am locked into that one week in October due to my daughter being out of school then, either that or go during the summer, which is even more expensive!

With the $4,252 price for this cruise, can anyone tell me approximately how much cheaper it would have been if I'd booked last fall when the rates first came out? Not sure I want to know but I keep wondering.

The whole cruise thing is all so confusing. I think I'd just stick with WDW but DS wants to go for graduation next year and this cruise falls during his birthday too so actually it might be quite nice.

Liz,

I wish I could help with prices when they first came out but I don't know. DU is a great place to start - if they have a group rate available then you can get a great deal. You may also try cruisecompete.com - you put out a request for a quote and TAs can then come in and give you quotes; this allows you to put in one request and get many quotes. All Seas Travel and micdan.com also gave me decent quotes - just not as cheap as my DU quote.

Good luck and I hope you find a great price for your cruise!

Try AAA auto club travel. I got about $900 off the DCL rate going thru them. Also got onboard credit.
