Trick or Treating at Downtown Disney?

I asked this question on the Theme Parks board with little response. I am really hoping that someone knows the answer!

Due to a flight change, we will now be at WDW by noon on Halloween instead of 11pm. My 7-year old Grand daughter would love to dress up and go Trick or Treating. Tickets for MNNSHP are "sold out" for that night.

Can anyone confirm that there will be Trick or Treatig at Downtown Disney? Can you describe what its like? Any other suggestions?

Please help!!

We did it last year with our boys 6&9 and it was fun.

I want to say it started at 6pm and you were given a list of the stores participating in Trick or Treat. There were a bunch of kids all dressed up going from store to store. Each store had a T or T spot inside designated w/ balloons or something. We went from store to store gathering up candy. Even the adults got candy from the chocolate shop (Giardeli sp?)

It was a lot of fun.

How busy was it last year? We were thinking about going there this year and I am curious what to expect? Was it pretty well organized? And I really do not want to spend a fortune on costumes so we were going to do home made...

We were at Downtown Disney on Halloween one year because I didn't want anything to do with the crowds at MK that day, and my teenagers weren't into it, but their little cousin was. So that worked fine for our group, the kids got plenty of treats, the little guy got to dress up, and it was not crowded at all. A VERY pleasant alternative to MNSSHP!!

We went last year and it was very well attended. There was entertainment too if I recall correctly. They had trick or treating both Halloween and the night before. One of those nights, it poured!!!!

We were at Disney for Halloween a couple of years ago & we went to the Boardwalk - there was a great party there too! And it was free! There were characters & a craft & trick or treating. it was a lot of fun

Thanks for all your responses! It looks like we have two options - DDD and Boardwalk. Sounds like a lot of fun.

Not crowded at all. Very well organized. Wasn't a huge party or anything. Small in scale but a nice alternative to the MNSSHP.
It rained so we had clear ponchos over the kids costumes. No fancy costumes required.

We did the Boardwalk party last year. It was soggy that day too. Anyway it was a blast. We actually did MNSSHP another night so we could do the Boardwalk party.

We loved the party. The kids enjoyed it better than MNSSHP because it poured for our MNSHHP and it wasn't as crowed and there were crafts and tattoo's and they had a dance party. They had pics taken with Mickey and a few other characters and did some trick or treating.

Check your resort when you check in as well. We've stayed in different resorts for Halloween, and they all have had things going on - from pool parties, to trick or treating around the hotel, to giant bowling, etc.
