Just found out some family members are arriving in Orlando on our last day. They'll be going to Universal and Sea World, so don't want to do something too Disney with them. They'll have a car and can meet up with us. None of us have ever been to TRex, how is the food there? Kids are 6-12 years old.

I really like Wolfgang Puck Express but I'm afraid the Saturday night following President's week along with the half marathon it will be a madhouse. :scared:

Honestly, we hated TRex. It’s very loud and difficult to have a conversation. The food isn’t good either. Way too stimulating for some kids. I wouldn’t go back.

I love WP Express. Perhaps you could go at an odd time in the hopes of lower crowds?

We have eaten at T-Rex once and really enjoyed it. With kids, the themeing can't be beat. We thought the food was good. DH had a burger and I had a chicken sandwich. They have great fries - they are seasoned waffle fries and are SOOO yummy.

My DD & DS, 11, love this place. The food in my opinion is average but the atmosphere for the kids( & you too if you like dinosaurs)is really the reason to go.
Wolfgang puck express has good food but is on the smaller side & often is full

We love Trex! We have gone our last two trips and will be there again in February.. the food is good, the theming is so much fun, especially if you have a dinosaur obsessed little boy

Well themed, loud, with TGIFriday's quality food...Not bad, but certainly not great, either.

As said above...kids who are into dinosaurs will probably like it.

We love Trex its been a tradition to eat there our first night, it can be loud but the food is always good, and its just a cool atmosphere! I think its a perfect vacation meal

The food is very ordinary but if you have kids they will love the place. I have an elephant crazy daughter and had to go there once to get her a stuffed wooly mammoth. And my very picky eater actually liked the food.

The food is mediocre and it's REALLY loud. If you actually want to have a conversation with them, I would eat somewhere else.

The atmosphere/themeing is amazing and we had a blast, but the food was lacking.

It is a unique experience since there are only two in the country. It is a must do if you have dinosaur fans. The food was no better or worse than your standard chain restaurant, though my DH really liked the ribs. I was expecting it to be way louder than it was given the way it was described on the boards. You will probably only be able to talk to the people sitting next to you or across from you. If you don't have a Landry Select Card yet, I would look into it.

I really dislike T-Rex. Really.

It is too loud even for me, a middle school band director who also does lunch duty.
The food is on the same level as Applebee's at best and costs way too much for what tastes like frozen food heated up.
If you must go at all because someone enjoys the dinosaur theme, order soda and some apps and be done with it.

WPE is my favorite CS in all of WDW. Because of its somewhat hidden location and since it's not the new kid on the block, you may be pleasantly surprised to see that it is not busy at all. When I was last there in May--and WDW was pretty darn crowded overall--there was hardly anyone at WPE.

If you'd rather have an ADR and not chance waiting in a long line at WPE, I'd choose Homecomin', Frontera Cocina, or House of Blues. We really enjoyed that Gospel Brunch!! How about Splitsville? That could be fun with kids, don't know if they accept reservations.

I hope you find the place that will best suit you and your family.

Are you seeing a trend ............. my .02 .......... VERY LOUD, hard to talk, almost average food, average if you are lucky service ......

But the theme is incredible and fun and great for kids ...... especially to take pictures and wander the whole place.

If the cons are okay for you, I think it would be a fun place to go since it's an uncommon thing.

BUT if you really want to talk and catch up, Splitsville is great, maybe get table by bowling and let kids bowl.

The only reason to go is for the dinosoaurs, everything else is rubbish. If they’re going to Universal, they’ll probably be doing Jurassic Park/meet the raptor etc which is far more impressive anyway. I’d pick somewhere else.

Mmm, sounds like it is not so popular overall, I'm going to check out some of the new Disney Springs options, thanks!

The food is not great. We've been there many times and although the atmosphere is fun for the kids, there is very limited food choices. Nothing sparked our interest this lasy trip on the regular or kids menu. We decided afterwards to skip it next time. Go to Rainforest Cafe! Much better food and fun atmosphere!

We’ve been to WDW multiple times, and TRex is the only restaurant that I can think of that we would not go back to. We waited an hour past our ADR time and when we inquired how much longer it would be, the person at the podium would only tell us that there were people in front of us and we would be seated when they got to us. I would have loved to have left, but by then, every place was so crowded that we would have waited forever somewhere else, all over again. Our kids were super-excited, too.

When we were finally seated, the room that we were seated in had no dinosaurs because it was supposed to look like the Ice Age, or something like that. It was so loud that we couldn’t really talk to each other, and the decor was so plain in our dining room that there was nothing to look at either.

The food was ok, but nothing special. The manager had apologized to us for our long wait for a table and promised that our food would come out quickly, but that took forever, too. I think we were probably there about three hours. I was desperate to leave by the time it was over.

Maybe we had an off night, but I won’t try it again.

I've been to T. rex twice and it's easily one of the best dining experiences I've had! On my first visit I got the Neanderthal New York Strip and all I can say is I've never had a better steak before or since. Never got why some people don't like it but to each their own, I suppose.

We were seated in the ice cave. It was terrible. It was very noisy and everything and everyone was blue. It was offputting. I think if we were in another area it might have been better. Honestly I enjoyed rainforest cafe much better though their menus are nearly the same.
