Was bored and was reading some trip reports, and looking at pictures. Some had pictures of them in the same spot at MK. Some of the trees are huge or big enough to block the castle view. Like 1990 or so. Now look at the same view and there are hardly any trees that you notice. So I guess my question is, do they swap out the trees if they get to big?

I believe they removed the large trees when they installed the Partners statue. It's a shame the trees were removed.

Disney swaps out trees and other plants all the time, relocates them to other parks, other places on property, etc. They always have other trees and plants growing back stage in nurseries so that they can replace anything in the parks ASAP with something similar or the same. Pretty cool stuff most people don't think about.

At DLRP, Imagineering pulled the trees in front of the castle due to the trees being out of Scale with the Castle. The trees had grown to be too big. Smaller trees were planted late last year.

I think replacing the trees for smaller ones is something that they have to do periodically to preserve the view of the Castle (weenie in Walt-speak) from Main Street.

They moved the bushes from Horizons and relocated them to the front of the American Pavilion.

There was a MAJOR clearing out and redesigning of the hub in the early-mid 1990's. You are correct that there used to be large trees around the hub (in the center) and now they are not there.

I remember how barren it looked the first time we went back after the trees were removed. Now it looks normal!
