JimC and his DW are at WDW and took some pictures of the THV construction. They sent them to me via e-mail and asked me to post on the DIS.

The buildings with the more completed construction are the ones closest to SSR itself.

Looks like construction is well along for the planned June 1, 2009 opening.

Cool pics!!! Thank you for posting!

Thanks to both Bill and Jim for the photos. :)

Minor correction - THV will open on June 1, 2009! Reservations will begin on February 8, 2009 for SSR owners and 2 weeks later for other DVC members.

The pics are awesome! The THVs look just like the former version. I love it!

Great pics! I'm hoping to stay there sometime too. Maybe by 2010 I'll be able to get a 7 month booking window ressie. It looks much more like my kind of place than BLT does.

Wow. They're coming along great. I wonder if we'll be able to request the locations? That one right by the river looks nice. Thanks guys for posting the pictures!

Great pictures! Thanks to both Jim and Bill for sharing them!

Thanks for the pics! This makes me so happy to be a SSR owner.

From the 2nd and final pics it looks like the balcony is quite close to the next villa--was this true of the old Treehouses?

Also how will the THV be accessed? I know that there used to be golf carts, but are there going to be roads and parking lots anywhere near them? Or is this not possible with the area's status as protected wetland?

There is a road that winds thru the THV area and there will be parking for each villa. There has been no word yet whether they will bring back the golfcart option.

They are using large cranes to lift the steel and villa sections to their foundations. They may be pumping in the concrete as well. I saw a large pumper truck on Vacation Way during our travels.

The bridge over to the THV is also closed on the far side so there is no way to get close to the construction.

I stopped by the preview center to see what information they had -- none so far.

Thanks, WebmasterDoc, your reply made me curious so I just looked at the satellite maps of the area. And I realized what I really meant to ask:

Any word or ideas as to whether THV are going to have their own check-in building or whether check-in will be at SSR Carriage House? And whether there will be a direct road from SSR to THV?

Looking at the map it looks like there's a walking path but I can't see if there's a way to make a new road (if there's going to be one) without going through the golf course. Also on the bird's eye view map I can see a small pool and spa/hot tub in the THV area--I wonder whether they're still usable or are being refurbed. And is the building next to the pool going to be part of the THV facilities?

And thanks for the update JimC!

Thanks for the great pictures.

Nice to see that the windows are large. For some reason I keep thinking these units will be dark being in the trees.

In my somewhat sketchy recollection they look much closer to the ground than the originals. Does this sound right?

Thanks so much for the pics. Love to watch the progress. They will be so nice and it's so nice knowing people will be staying in them again.
