Treehouse Villas at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa - FACT SHEET

Nostalgic memories of childhood playtime translate into over-the-treetops family vacation time with the addition of the Treehouse Villas to Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa. Evoking a sense of adventure that makes kids feel more like grownups and grownups feel more like kids, the Treehouse Villas at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa will combine a dash of luxury and comfort with the nostalgic memories of a childhood fortress.

Walt Disney World’s Long History of Treehouse Living
A cherished Walt Disney World tradition from 1975-2002, the original octagonal treehouse villas were built on pedestals in forested glens, offering Guests breathtaking treetop views of the natural surroundings.

When designing the new Treehouse Villas accommodations, Disney Imagineers went to great lengths to ensure that the new villas would actually lessen the original villas’ footprint. As a result, Disney Imagineers were able to reduce encroachment on the surrounding wetlands by 70 percent for each individual home site.

Treehouse Villas’ Unique Construction Process
Rather than heading to the nearest hardware store to purchase a few 2” x 4”s and a handful of nails, Disney Imagineers will break the typical treehouse mold with the construction of the Treehouse Villas at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa. The construction process itself is unique, as crews will assemble all 60 vacation homes onsite like a giant 3-D puzzle.

Treehouse Living With All the Comforts of Home
Designed in a style decreed “cabin casual,” the Treehouse Villas will offer much more than the rope ladder and snack stash typically found in childhood treehouses. Elevated 10 feet off the ground, these villas will offer three bedrooms and two baths while comfortably accommodating up to nine Guests. An open kitchen will boast an island sink and a counter area offering seating for three, while a separate dining table will seat up to six. In addition, flat-screen TVs will be found in the living room and each bedroom, giving Guests an opportunity to catch up on the day’s latest news stories or favorite TV shows while relaxing after a fun-filled day at Disney’s theme parks. Throw in cathedral ceilings and granite countertops for a treehouse that surpasses every childhood expectation.

Resort Amenities
The Treehouse Villas at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa will feature its own planned pool area, in addition to sharing all that the main resort has to offer, including boat transportation between the Downtown Disney Area and the Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort dock, tennis courts, bicycle rental, a children’s playground, a nearby spa and fitness center and High Rock Spring Pool, which boasts its own water slide and whirlpool spa.

Disney Vacation Club
Disney Vacation Club is a vacation-ownership program that helps families enjoy flexibility and savings on vacations for decades to come. By purchasing a real estate interest in a Disney Vacation Club resort, families enjoy flexible vacations at Disneydestinations worldwide, as well as more than 500 other popular Member Getaways vacation locations around the globe.

Fun Facts

Disney Vacation Club has doubled its membership since 2004 to include more than 350,000 individual members from each U.S. state and approximately 100 different countries.
Environmental sensitivity was extremely important to Disney Imagineers when constructing the new Treehouse Villas. As a result, 5,178 tons, or 65.22 percent, of materials from demolition were recycled, including concrete and metals.
When it comes to wiring, Disney Imagineers working on the Treehouse Villas went to great “lengths” to ensure every vacation home runs smoothly. Consequently, there are 87,858 lineal feet, or 16.6 miles, of wire for fiber optics, copper, telephones and CATV.
To support all 60 Treehouse Villas, there are a total of 480 concrete columns.

Thanks for posting the info, pyrxtc! :thumbsup2 They sould fabulous - I hope we can get a sneak peek at them when we go "home" next April. :hippie:

I am sooooooooooooooooooooooo happy about this. I am sooooooooo happy to be an SSR owner.....................OMG............I AM SOOO EXCITED. :cool1:

Interesting. From the pictures and fact sheet it appears that these will not be ADA compliant, unless they are tucking in an elevator or lift in a certain percentage of villas.

That's really good to hear that they are bringing back the Tree Houses! I've never stayed there before, but I've always wanted to. I walked through there about 5 years ago and dreamed of living there. Now maybe I can come close to my dream and spend a week there... Again, really good news!!!

Didn't we discuss this months ago? There was something about providing access to two villas closest to each other.

In any case, ADA law is pretty clear about the requirement to provide access to all room types. I can't see Disney overlooking that.

As a general rule, the plans usually released to the public are not ADA. ADA rooms have a different layout and placement in every resort I've stayed. I had to book a stay before I got a chance to see one.

Yes, there was a rendering where they would create a ramping system that would lead to two different villa's... It was the ramp up and then the ramp to either villa.... I should remember, since that's what I'll need LOL...

I am curious about the points though, it's a 3 bedroom, I think it will be quite pricey....

We own at Saratoga and my initial thought was I would love to stay in the Treehouses. I've been interested in them ever since I first came across them on a bus ride from the old Villas to what was then the Marketplace back in 1987. But DH very quickly pointed out to me that it would be a colossal waste of points to stay in a three bedroom since it will be just him and me most trips after DD leaves for college next year. I'm still looking forward to actual pictures though.

They may be three bedrooms but, the occupany (9) will be almost the same as a two bedroom villa (8).

Either way I can't wait to be able to stay there I have always dreamed of staying in one of these!!!

If your heart is set on staying there invite a friend, niece, nephew..... or how about a girls only trip with a few of your best pals. :)

But it will be farther away from anything than even the Carousel! Just kidding, couldn't resist it. I think it would be fun to stay in one every once in a while.

If you just looked at the plans for any of the DVC resorts, you would think none were accessible. None of the plans for the other DVC resorts show wheelchair accessibility either, but it is there.
The ADA guidelines for Lodging Facilities requires this:
4 accessible rooms (1 with a roll-in shower) for a resort with 51 to 75 rooms.

They could do that by using a ramp or an elevator. The one with a roll in shower would be totally accessible and have a bathroom that a wheelchair can be brought in. The bathroom would have a shower that has no step to get in. Depending on just how the regular bathroom is set up, an accessible bathroom with a roll in shower may not take any extra room.
The other 3 accessible rooms could be at a lower level of accessibility, including grab bars in the bathroom by the tub and toilet.

I remember that too. I think someone had found a place where there were some small hills. That would make the ramp shorter since a ramp to go up 10 feet would be pretty steep.

Do you happen to have a link stored somewhere? My attic of a brain remembered something about it but I couldn't tell if it was DIS drawn or from some schematics filed. At least it wasn't just my imagination.

I remember someone circling the possible location on the Google satellite map of two old treehouses close enough together to do that. They were closest to the bridge to the OKW/DTD walkway.

Every indication I've been reading from insiders suggest they will be priced like 2bedroom units. There are a few voices on these boards who have insider contacts (or at least proport to).

Thanks Sue. I was waiting (and hoping) you'd chime in here. You usually know the most about this stuff. I just get to benefit from your knowledge.

I plan to hit up my guide this week and every other person I can find with some info. Seems I'll have a new focus for my SSR walks this trip.:yay:

Okay, this is probably the only thing that would make me want to buy DVC!! We LOVED the Treehouses when we were fortunate enough to stay there years ago. We were so disappointed when we returned to WDW in 2003 and they were closed down. They were AWESOME. We totally felt like we were in our own little world, with all the comforts of staying onsite. We had 7 family members comfortably in the treehouse we had. The only drawback at the time was that the pool that was in the area was really blah.

So will you be able to buy them separately? Or will you have to buy SSR? Anyone know how it would work?

The first one or two are in place and can be seen from the ferry going to DTD from PO. I did not get to make that journey but a family member took a couple of pictures with his phone camera. It was hard to see any detail but he did say it appeared the building is in place and the roof is on. I did get some pictures of the bases for several that will be along the golf path behind some of the Grandstand buildings. Those units will be no further from the main areas than this building we are in which is the 95-98 hundred rooms. If I get a chance tomorrow before we leave I will try to take the ferry to PO and get some pictures myself. They are supposed to be a room classification in the SSR resort so you will need to own SSR points to have the 11 month booking advantage.

Thanks for this info. We have seen them on our many trips to Disney and always wondered about them. We have never seen them on any maps or anything. Figured they were exclusive or something. Can't wait to see them. Any idea on when the will be available?
