What are your thoughts on the Saratoga Springs Treehouse Villas? We are a family of 6. Looking for opinions on how nice the villas are and how is the travel to the parks? Thanks!

They look really spacious, but that is from the boat going from Disney Springs to OKW! You can see right into a few of them as you go by! Look into an OKW 2 bedroom, too. You can spread out there. I think they are doing some refurb there, though, so take that into consideration (at OKW, not SSR).

Some friends of mine rented one last year and loved the space but have told me they will never stay there again. They have 3 little ones and getting buses to and from SS and then to the parks was just to much of a time sink, when nap time came they found that by the time they got back to the treehouse the kids had already had their nap and were ready to go back to the parks. With mine being long past the nap stage I will admit I have been thinking about them myself.. After 2 trips to POR and 2 trips to FQ I have gone past those villas a lot on the boats.

The TH's are nice and will have plenty of space for 6 people. The secret is to get a TH near the walking path to the Grandstand area at the main resort. This will eliminate the need to use the internal bus service at the TH's. We found having a car was the easiest way to travel to the parks. If you hate driving to the parks yourself then the TH's might not be for you. Another positive or negative aspect is the TH's are quiet and away from the Disney madness. You don't have to worry about noisy neighbors banging around in their rooms and kids running up and down the halls.

We stayed at the villas with six people (5 adults and one child) back in 2013. I absolutely loved the space- it is amazing. But, we had to rent a van. There are buses just to get you to the main resort buildings and pool, and then a bus to the parks. If you are in one of the farther villas, it is a hike to walk it. My brother in law went rogue one night to get away from all of us and used the buses, and it took him well over an hour door to door to get to MK. So, if you rent a car, that works. Otherwise I would suggest maybe two rooms at a moderate, an aoa family suite or a two bedroom villa at wilderness, boardwalk, akl or even saratoga springs.

My brother owns at SSR and he often books the THVs because point-wise, they are a better deal than booking a 2-BR or a GV.

There are 3 bedrooms and 2 baths. One bedroom has bunk beds, the other two have queen beds. There is also a queen sleeper sofa and a twin sleeper chair in the living room area. Unlike the FW cabins, the THVs have full kitchens, including an oven. There are charcoal grills for each unit just off of the private deck. The THV area has a pool if you don't want to take the bus or walk to the feature pools. There's a dock to take a boat to Disney Springs. I will be staying there for the first time in the fall.

If you have a car, you probably will not mind the remoteness of the THVs too much. They are very peaceful and since each unit is completely separate from its neighbor, you will not hear TVs blaring all night, or a parent yelling at the kids in early morning hours. However, you are far removed from the rest of the resort and getting anywhere using Disney transportation is going to be a challenge. I don't know if this is your first or fiftieth visit to Disney but if you're a relative newbie who will spend more time at the parks than at the resort, you may want to consider a family suite at ASMu or AoA.

I have stayed once and enjoyed it. It is the most secluded DVC option and when we went we were with friends with loud children so that turned out to be a real blessing. Sitting on the deck at night, watching the boats go by and hearing crickets was really neat for an on-site experience. It is also nice that they have their own pool and hot tub as it is rarely busy, plus the huge SSR pool area is available to THV guests. The boat to Disney Springs was a fun option and I may be in the minority but the walk to the bus stop did not bother me (we requested and got one near the pathway that leads to the bus stop, a villa on the other end might change that opinion). We have been more drawn recently to the monorail loop, but if we were going to stay at SSR with more than just our family then we would absolutely consider a tree house again.

I want to love the THVs, but there is no way I'm going to pay that much for a hotel and not have a king size bed. And more bathrooms. The interior use of space doesn't seem very well thought out.
