Apologies if this has been mentioned somewhere already.

Found the following document posted on the Orange County Comptroller's site as of July 18th. It indicates Housekeeping & LAN buildings, Bus Stop North & South and Boat Dock are to be improved at the Treehouses!

Interestingly the owner is listed as Disney Vacation Development!

I've seen it mentioned that the Treehouses fall into the SSR property so maybe they will be DVC?!:wizard:

Or maybe this is just to get the permits filed and then the property will be detached from SSR for Resorts or some other entity to take it over?

Very interesting... from what I've heard (and I am by no means in any "loop") they are currently used for housing college students working at Disney or exchange students. Would they be improving it just for them? Or to make them public again?

it is definitely going to public - but to DVC or CRO - is the question.

for DVC those things would be expensive.

stand alone units.

plus CRO has got to put FW cabins with something - so it makes sense (from my point of view) for them to be CRO.

that say would love them to be DVC. would not stay there if they are CRO - but definitely would if DVC.

Yes, your a little out of the loop, They are gone, torn down, hauled away. They are building something brand new, from scratch. In June the trucks were hauling dirt in and out of there.

The document mentions a boat dock.

Anyone recall a dock in the area of the Treehouses and if so, how big of a dock?

I'm wondering if it is just something that can accomodate personal watercraft and the like or if it is a full blown platform loading area like Port Orleans, OKW, SSR & DTD?

I would think that if guests will be staying there it would be similar to the other resorts and offer boat transportation to DTD.:)

Stayed at both POFQ & OKW last year and took the boat from both up and down the river and don't remember seeing a dock by the Treehouses - might've been there, just don't have a recollection of it.

When did they tear them down? I just saw them in January. It must have just happened in the last few months.

there wasn't.

so it definitely sounds like this will be a stand alone resort.

before it shares with Disney village then DI. (before SSR)

no private boats are allowed on Disney property period. Only Disney boats.

Well, I'm pretty much brain dead, but I want to say Mar or Apr. There is a thread w/ pictures of the demo, if you can find it. I don't know how to link it. Search Tree Houses and you should come up w/ pictures. The thread says "Bye Bye"

We were there late March/early April and they were tearing them down then (some were already gone by that time).

This has actually come up before. They are building new (larger) units to replace the old ones. The building plans were submitted by DVD so best guess is it may end up being DVC. That property was at one time considered part of the SSR property.

Somewhere in the cobwebs of mind (and there are a lot of them), I am recalling this now.

A little out of the loop is an understatement!:lmao:
Clearly, this is a reason for me to go to WDW more often.

So at this point, it's just land that is in between OKW and SSR that is owned by DVD? Sounds DVC-ish to me then.

After searching around I found the photo below. I don't know when it dates from but there is a dock in the top of the photo. I'd guess they could "refurbish" whatever remains of the dock - an old footing, submerged piling, etc.

We were there in April and rented a boat at OKW. While in the lake we noticed there was construction tape around the units and most looked to be empty. The entrance was closed off too. It did not look like anyone was staying in them. :goodvibes

We were at POR mid May and there were definately treehouses still there.

They were tearing them down in June. My husband and daughter got pictures when they were using the little boats.

We just returned Tuesday and while on a vist to SSR to delcine the OKW extension, we were told by a CM and a QA staffer that the Tree Houses are being re-built and WILL be independant DVC units. With check in at SSR. No date was given for when they will be available.
