So reality has set in and I am second guessing my desire for an SSR add on. The tree houses will have steps, and does anyone know if Bell Services could be used to take/bring luggage up/down? The type of accomodations are what I have hoped for, assuming we could fit a third child in that bunk bed room, I thought I would be adding on some points next year anyway, but now, I'm wondering if SSR will be the right choice.

I would expect that the Bell Staff at SSR will be happy to assist guests staying in the THVs. They would likely take guests/luggage from the Carriage House to THVs by cart using the walkway aleady in place and used in years past for that purpose. In inclement weather they'd likely need to use a van, but they have that available too.

I hope so, thank you. So, check in for the tree houses was where check in for SSR is now? I'm not running out to buy the points, but knowing I can be accomodated, I'll keep looking. DH is interested, I haven't heard from DS or DDIL regarding the type of accomodations that will be offered.

Where is this walking path that actually connects THV to SSR??? Thanks

Heya Bobbi!

If there is one GREAT thing I can say about my stay at SSR last May (and there were many) - BELL SERVICES!

I'd be 99% sure that they'd extend their awesomeness to the THV guest as well too! Let me explain! :rotfl:

Bell Services did much more than just gather our luggage (and for 9 people staying in a GV with $300 worth in groceries and a Suburban and an Avalanche full I mean A LOT of luggage) during our stay! They got to know us by face or name on our walks through the resort and offered us rides on the carts to anywhere we wanted to go. If we were headed to DTD on the walking path, they had no problem taking the time to drive us over instead. One time we missed the bus so Mustafah told us to hurry on to his cart and he carted us up to The Springs so we'd catch the same bus there. It turned out to be so much fun riding around in the carts all week and the staff was so polite. I'm sure they loved the tips too, but if they offer up that sort of thing over at THV, then there's no worries at all. We weren't the only guests being treated this way either. I'd see bellhops offering rides to guests walking out of AP with bags of groceries or guests leaving TC were carted over to CP. I think in a resort like this it's a great option to have such assistance! We even had a baby with a stroller but the bellhop just folded the stroller and put it on the back of the cart.

Sorry to make this so long winded but to answer your question - I'm certain Bell Services will be there at THV to assist with every and any need the guests my have. I thought the services and treatment we received from the staff at SSR was A+!

If you follow the cart path behind the SSR Boat dock, it crosses the canal -just after you get off the canal bridge, take the right path (it's paved) and follow that along the canal (it passes thru a quiet wooded area) and then there will be another bridge crossing the canal to the THVs. The bridge is presently closed due to the construction, but was used in the past to get from the Treehouses to the main part of the resort. If you follow the walkway beyond that bridge it will take you to OKW.

It's probably about 400 yards from the boat dock to the THV bridge and another 600 yards from there to OKW.

Liljam! Thank you for all you said. In the meantime, I HAVE heard from DDil and she/they are thrilled to think they could be staying in a REAL TREEHOUSE!

I think the die is cast...we will be adding on at SSR, and I'll be saving up for this addition. This development has made me and my family look at a resort that they NEVER even considered before. I'm glad because of the maintenance fees, usually we've added on at the most expensive MF resorts. We wouldn't give up our VB points for anything, however. I'm also happy that there are 3 bathrooms in the 2 bedrooms at AKV, (Kidani) we own there as well.

Have you ever stayed at SSR, Bobbi? You strike me as the type of person that would be pleasantly surprised by it, but I could be wrong. After many posts I've read on here and other boards, I think that the THV will be a pretty hot item and a great addition for SSR, but I think they will be a love it or hate it item too - sort of like BLT. I'm all for the seclusion of THV and the 70's funky style of BLT (fingers crossed on a 7 month booking window somewhere in the next 50 years :rotfl: ) but we'll see what happens! Anyway, I wish you luck on buying at SSR, and I do hope that you fall in love with the rest of the resort somewhere along the way!

Hi again, Liljam! Yes, I've stayed at SSR, studio in CP and we've sent my DS there for a night and for her, the spa use was the big selling point for her. I think SSR is beautiful, but it just would never been my first choice of a place to stay. Well, I've enjoyed renting the trailers at FW and I'm thinking that the treehouse experience will be like that. The trailers aren't particularly convenient to anything, but staying there was special. This new SSR experience will be the same for me and my whole family. My DDiL says that not only the DGC but she can't wait to stay in one. So....our DVC purchase has always been for extended family use, we bought for my DM's 85th birthday celebration, and so, this will be another place for our family to go to and enjoy together.

My guess is they may also do some landscaping/path creation to really include the THV into SSR.

I thought that Disney tree houses would have a rope elevator being pulled by a elephant? :thumbsup2

The golf course runs between the THV area and the Grandstand area so there is not much area there to create something to connect the two without competing with golfers on the course.

Here is an aerial view of the THV area - the Grandstand is just across the fairway to the right of THV in the photo and there is just a small area behind the green which is already used by golfers.

The existing walkway is also viewable in this aerial - it crosses the canal just below the THV area and follows alongside the canal to the SSR bridge near the SSR boat dock. That distance is about 400 yards.

Since you mentioned this, I was actually thinking that they should install some hanging vines so that we can swing on over to the main area like Tarzan!

Hi Bobbi!

I also think that there will be plenty of Bell Service available for THV!:thumbsup2

The theme is "Glamping" and it won't be very glamourous hauling luggage upstairs:goodvibes

Also, I believe HHI has Bell Services too and all their units are elevated except in the main bldg.

I also agree with liljam, I've found the staff at SSR to go out of their way to be helpful. We too have been offered rides or assistance. The staff is our favorite part of SSR.

I doubt if they will offer golf carts for guest rental. There's limited space for parking and it would impede on golfers.

We can't wait for THV!

okay is this the bridge you go over if you are walking towards DTD from the boat dock area..but you would turn right instead??? I remember walking along the golf course towards DTD (well towards Cirque) but we went to the left instead.

I hope you get a nice incentive when you add on too~~~~:goodvibes

If they allow golf carts my hubby would be there in a second....

Loves driving them around.
