Help me understand the Tree of Life Awakenings, how it compares to River of Lights, and why it not offered in November. Is the show schedule just not available yet or are there no shows past October?

I can’t imagine they wouldn’t have it in November unless it was undergoing some kind of maintenance.

River of Light is a show. You sit in a theatre and the show is performed on water. The TOL awakenings can be viewed from anywhere you can see the TOL, just walking by, stopping to watch, etc.

I was just looking at Touring Plans show times for our dates in November. Many othere shows like Na'vi Drum Ceremony, Chakreandi, Harambe Village Acrobats have no show times either. I'm just confused as I am trying to make our plan for AK day.

The awakenings are just projections on the tree, with some accompanying music. We were there not too long after they started and had trouble hearing (and really seeing) them; hope they've fixed that. But there's not really a story or anything that I could tell, just basically some animals running around. Looked neat but nothing my family would make a point of seeing, just stopping if we saw one happening.

I loved the Tree of Life Awakening show, well worth seeing! They project it on the tree after dark, there are 8 different short projection shows. No seats, you just watch at the front of the tree.

I agree.

I was mesmerized and could have stood there all night. I thought the visuals were stunning.

But you can simply catch the projection show by walking by. No staking out seating or position ahead of time necessary (but I do, front and centre).

Spoiler video.......

I think one of the marvelous things about the awakenings is that they cycle. You have a chance to wait a few and eventually make your way up front for a wonderful view or you can just catch snippets as you check out shops, etc... It's one of the "less stressful" shows to see with no need to stake out a spot early and far less of the jostling that occurs with a lot of others.

I find it absolutely beautiful. There are four different themes, and in between if you watch closely you will also see the animals "come alive" in a pretty striking way. The themes cycle with some short breaks in between and repeat. Hopefully they just haven't updated the schedule yet so you will be able to catch it. It's one of my personal favorites since it's so calming, relaxing and beautiful.

I finally saw the Tree Awakenings my last trip (had never had the chance to see AK in the dark before). I found a place to sit in one of the seating areas with a few tables and chairs along the water, somewhere between Pandora and Africa maybe? I can't remember exactly where. Definitely plan to try to see them next week, though AK closes at 8 (we'll probably skip ROL though, which I also saw in August). Oops, just checked the hours, and it's open till 9 now.

Do the awakenings turn off right at closing time or do they continue as you wonder out of the park? We are attending the 7:30 ROL and the park closes at 8. I'm wondering if there is anyway to squeeze in both...
