If she doesn't get the
scooter, ask for a room near the elevator at BWV.
IF the room is not near the elevator, tell them that you need the room to be near an elevator at check-in, and they will try to accomodate you. Check in relatively early.
On 9/25, we were assigned a room very distant from the elevators. It was 5 doors from the very end of the resort. I was very polite, and insisted that we needed to be in the first big bend and not in the second big bend -- so we gave them a lot of leeway to work with. We had a standard view. Scheduling worked with us, and we got a room that fit our needs.
Oddly, my feet always hurt beyond belief at WDW, and I had recently started having significant pain with plantars fascitis, so at check-in I assumed my feet were going to give me fits.
It turns out that all of my preventive measures worked and I had very little foot pain. Of course, I had every expectation that my feet would be worse, not better.
I had done the following:
I shopped carefully for athletic shoes 3-4 months before the trip and found the most comfortable pair.
I used Dr. Scholl's Inserts
I used Dr. Scholl's heel cups (I think this was important!)
I did lots of pf exercises.
I tried to walk as much as I could before the trip.
I took 2 advil as I started the day, and sometimes took another 2 in the evening.
I drank lots of water.
I still found the occassional bench! (Better than finding all of them!!)
I want you to know very sincerely that I considered
renting a scooter for this trip, and do not want to discourage you from doing so. I just want you to know that I am so happy that I personally finally found what I needed to go relatively pain free. I know what it feels to visit WDW like everybody else!
