Hello all,

Our family is planning a road trip from Toronto, Ontario to Chicago, Illinois during the upcoming Easter weekend. We are planning to visit the Treasures of the Walt Disney Archives exhibit on display at the Science Museum.

We are very excited to see all this great artifacts and read about the history of Walt Disney.

We will probably post some stuff from the exhibit while we are there if you want to follow us.

Has anyone been to see this exhibit yet or planning to go?

Did you make the trip? We are heading there this weekend! How long did you spend at the exhibit?

Yes! We completed our trip last weekend and it was AWESOME!!! We are just in the process of writing our trip report. Hoping to have it posted on our blog later this weekend with pictures. We did post a few pictures while on the trip via Instagram and Twitter.

We got there right at 9:30 when it opened and the place was already packed. We had to reserve a time to visit the exhibit, which was good to control crowds. We spent almost 3 hours in there. I took my time and read all the information next to each archive item and ended up taking over 600 pictures.

There was just so much history there.. I could really feel it.

Not sure if you will have a car with you but I recommend paying the $20 for parking directly in the building and leaving your jackets in the car. Well worth the connivence.

The exhibit is leaving in a few weeks so glad you are able to go see it.

Let me know if you have anymore questions.

Happy to share

So it sounds like you can spend as much time as you want once you enter the exhibit. That's great!

Did you do the Animation Academy?

Did you buy your tickets ahead of time or when you arrived? We probably won't get there until around noon, so I'm wondering if I should buy in advance and lock in our time. I sure wouldn't want to get there and find out the remaining times are sold out.

Thanks for your help!

Yes! you can spend as much time as you want once you are inside the exhibit. No one will kick you out.

Yes! The kids had lots of fun at the Animation Academy.

We purchased our tickets via the self-serve kiosks. not sure if you can select your time via on-line purchase. If it is possible via on-line, I recommend you do so because it gets really busy.

In total, we spent about 8 hours in the museum. 3 hours at the Disney exhibit and 5 hours to tour the rest of the museum.

Thanks! You've been very helpful! We love the museum, but our main focus will be on the Disney exhibit this time since we will have limited time. I was afraid we wouldn't even be able to get up there in time to see it, so I'm thankful for any time I can get! I can't miss out on getting a little fix of Disney in the Midwest!

These are great pictures! Thanks for posting them! My daughter and I ended up getting to go last Saturday. I was so glad we could! We spent a couple of hours in the exhibit and still had some time to see a lot of the museum. Now I see the exhibit has been extended till August so we could have waited until after her graduation, but that's OK. It was a nice break!

Where were the display cases of the marqette statues located? For some reason we didn't see those. We saw the ones in the circular table-type display but not the others that had The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast and Lion King.

There was hardly anything left at the little gift shop outside the exhibit when we were there. We thought it was probably because they were almost finished. Hopefully they will restock since they are extending. I see some really neat looking pins and keychain in your pictures. I would have liked to have gotten some of those. Oh well!

So glad you made it. They just announced the extension this week. Glad to hear that you enjoy our pictures.

The statues were across from the office display to the right of Snow Whites dress.

The other displays of The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast and Lion King were near the animators workshop area. it was a bit off to the side.

Too bad about the pins and keychains. We were lucky and was able pick them up. Our son is quite the pin collector.

We will be posting more trip reports and our vacation memories to the site as time passes. Just posted how we like to tour MK at WDW.
