Sorry, I'm sure this has been discussed, but I have mainly spent my time over on the Trip Planning Forums, and I just found this one!

I wanted to see what everyone thought of Treasure Planet? I had heard that it was not well-receiving. But, my family loved it! I have 2 boys and a girl, who all thought it was great, kind of Star Wars mixed with Disney. My wife and I also enjoyed it. We have the CD (great music!), and our kids have all of the toys. We plan to get the DVD ASAP!

Any opinions? I was just curious why so many people did not like it....

I'll have to agree with you, but I think we might be in a minority. I loved it too. I saw the digital version, and thought that the artwowrk was stunning. I will say that the people with me who had never read Treasure Island and didn't know the story were a little lost at the beginning, but we still all agreed that it was a great night at the movies and that we got our money's worth. I never quite understood why Disney was so quick to claim their loss on this one!

I thought the animation was outstanding, but found the story (as told) to be quite empty. I didn't have strong feelings about any of the characters. I left the theater rather flat.

I agree.

My family saw the movie on an IMAX screen in Memphis and the animation was stunning, even when it was MEGA-sized.

And we all enjoyed the action scenes - BUT when it was all over and done it just wasn't really satisfying.

I liked it a lot, cool look ok story

I liked the animation, but I couldn't have cared less about the story and most of the characters.

Wanted to see it, but missed it. We tried going after Christmas shopping the 3rd or 4th weekend it was out, but arrived about 15 minutes too late. The following weekend it was out of our local theater.

For some reason, we find our family is busier during the Holidays, and therefore we are less likely to catch a movie. I realize we must be in the minority, but nonetheless, the short theater run of TP coupled with our Holiday activities added up to missing it.

I've heard enough good things about the animation and overall technical quality that we will pick up the DVD when it comes out.

This isn't my type of story line and my son seems to have outgrown (or so he thinks) this type of movie. I do intend to check it out when it comes out on video though.

This is one of life's mysteries to me. I thought EVERYONE was busier during the holidays! I know that we sure are! But apparently movies draw more during the holidays, at least according to the numbers I've heard and from the obvious attempt to get movies out in time for them.

TP had some terrific animation. I think the story did not lag at all however I left flat also because I have seen the same story in about 15 other movies. I am sure many people have seen movies that are nothing more than Treasure Island.
