Treasure Pet Peeve

I dont know enough about them to comment how it was implemented. I have been on these kinds before in a hotel and do agree it was great. I just don't think it works well on a cruise boat with so many people constantly using them.
Icon of the Seas has the destination elevators and we thought they worked great both times we sailed.

I think the problem with them on Utopia is that it is doing only 3/4 night cruises, so people are more out and about around the ship trying to cram everything into the short timeframe.

I'll be on Utopia in a couple of weeks so I'll get to experience it for myself.

Anyway, the older Disney ships also suffered from elevators that didn't go to the top decks. That isn't anything new.
The difference on the magic and wonder is those decks that the elevators don’t go to aren’t decks where there are staterooms. It’s extremely frustrating to be staying on deck 12/13 on the Wish/Treasure and never being able to summon an elevator that will take you all the way there multiple times a day.

instead of the up/down button, they need one of those panels where you select the floor you want to go to and it calls the right elevator for you.
I wish DCL would implement this. I know it's not just a snap of the fingers, so to speak, but it would alleviate so much confusion and frustration.

Yes please let me know how your experience was! Maybe my sailing was an outlier.

It has nothing to do with how DCL is run. It takes about 3 years to build a cruise ship. The Treasure and Destiny were well into production before reviews of the Wish would have come out. Once in production, you can't just change the layout without it costing a whole lot of time and a whole lot of money. It is possible you can see some sort of change on the 4th Triton ship, but I would doubt it. Also, keep in mind that Disney pays a lot of money for research and feedback. While negative reviews are always the loudest and most noticeable (particularly on boards or blogs and vlogs where negativity gets you clicks), it doesn't necessarily mean that is what the majority of the research says. It was enough for them to notice and go for a redesign on the next class of ship, but it wasn't enough to keep them from adding a 4th Triton class ship

Is it? The Wish is still selling like crazy and I bet that the Treasure will, too.

Wish is selling out to first time cruisers on three and four day cruises to castaway because that's what they can afford the Treasure is brand new and sparkly. My original post was in regard to many time cruisers saying they're done with the Triton class ships.

So? They're selling out, aren't they? That will probably stop at some point, but the other ships don't usually sell out, either. My point was that Disney's decisions seem to be working out just fine. Just because you don't like something doesn't mean that nobody else does. There are plenty of happy cruisers on the Wish-class ships.

Then they must have been poorly implemented. When done right, the are much more efficient than traditional elevators and move many more passengers over the same period of time. I love them at the Coronado Springs Towers, for example. When a big group arrives from the parks, they are really quick at getting people to their floor, and you don't stop at every floor on the way up to yours.
My issue with CSR Tower is the elevators overestimate their capacity. They’ll line up 5 floors worth of people but when headed up forget it, a luggage cart is always involved. Maybe if they were smarter adjusted floor capacity limits based on time of day and direction of travel…

My wife and I were on the inaugural Icon cruise. She uses a manual wheelchair when cruising and we thought the destination elevators worked great (most of the time). They still had some bugs where the panels didn't always work. The elevators might have been less crowded that cruise, since I heard that they kept to booking capacity low on the first cruise to allow them a chance to work out any issues with the new ship.

We will also be going on B2B Utopia cruises in a couple of weeks for our 48th anniversary

The NCL Encore had a similar issue, where only two of the forward elevators went up to the highest deck. Not a big deal to take the stairs up the last bit, but it got annoying after a week.

Just got off the Treasure 7-night sailing and it was absolutely wonderful. Helped of course by being in Concierge. :)

But I did have a pet peeve about this ship and the Wish. Those Elevators!!!! No, not the issue about the buttons being too easy to press. This is a really silly thing. Not every elevator goes all the way to deck 12 (or higher). In the forward elevator lobby only 4 of the 8 elevators go to 12. Same in the aft elevator lobby. So, with a cabin on deck 12 forward we regularly found ourselves taking the elevator to 11 and walking up a flight. Similarly when going to Palo/Enchante/The Rose in the aft of the ship.

Yes, a very small thing.
The elevators on the Wish class ships were such a weird choice. It almost feels like elevators were an after thought in the planning? I assume they weren't because obviously a ship needs elevators but it does feel a bit like they got far along in the design and then someone was like "what about elevators?"
