DH and I are thinking of buying a treadmill.

I've looked around at some buyers guides but I'd like some "personal" experiences...

Give me the good, the bad, and the ugly! ;)

You can hang clothes off them very nicely.

My cats sleep on it in the basement :bitelip:

I actually got mine free form a freecycle group. My only place to put one is in my unfinished basement.

We just cleared it out so I will start using it this week. I told hubby he has to put something over the one basement window. Anyone walking by could see me. That would not be a good sight :rotfl2: lolol

We've had a Fitline for about 2 months now. They are made by True, with is a well known company. It works very well and is amazingly quiet. We were origionally looking at the Proforms, but changed our mind when we saw Fitline. The whole family uses ours. Doesn't have time to be a clothshanger!!!! Right now they are offering 2 free round trip air tickets for purchasing any piece of Fitline equipment in their Get Fit, Fly Free promotion. Darn, I bought my treadmill too soon!!!!

If you want to check out their website, here it is www.fitlinefitness.com

I have a Pro-Form 730CS. It's a few years old. I love it, never had any problems with it. It has the i-Fit technology on it, but I've never used it. It's big, but it folds up and I store it in my bedroom. My only advice would be to buy a used one. I bought mine used (a year old), and saved so much money!

oops...double post...always wondered how that happened! :teeth:

COOL Promotion!!! :cool1:

Hmmmm...maybe we CAN get back to WDW sooner than I thought!!

Thanks for the info!

Stephanie...thanks for your info too!! I didn't consider a used one. I'm not entirely sure where we'd find one around here, but DH can see if he can find any!

I'd definitely consider a Smooth Treadmill. We just bought one from Smooth Fitness. (The price online is the final price. Taxes = $0 and delivery = $0) We love it! It is very sturdy/solid. It has an integrated heart rate monitor system and it has an automatic power fold button. We bought it after a lot of research. So far, it has exceeded our expectations.

Here is the link. Smoo thF itness

We just bought one at Walmart. I didn't want to make a big investment. I don't need a fancy one adn I don't run. So we bought a generic brand for $324 with tax. :thumbsup2 It folds up too for storage. It's 2.5 HP and goes plenty fast for me. I have had it about 2 weeks and its perfect for me. I just walk on it, no running for me. :)

My sister gave me her Pro-Form when she moved (didn't have space for it). It's nice. I love that you can change the incline on it while in use and it can also take your heart rate. It folds up when I'm not using it. It's not as good as the Precor I use at the gym but I like it. I think it was @$300. The ones at the gym are thousands so for the price it's a good one.

I work out at a gym and will probably continue to do so for the rest of my life. The variety of stuff in a private gym can never be replicated in a home gym (unless you want to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars) and variety of activities is better for your body than doing the same thing over and over.

Thank you very much for your idea, Kimberly. :sunny:

While I do agree that a variety of activities may be better for many folks, there are extenuating circumstances here and my doc has suggested I stick to just walking for the forseeable future.

I can walk outside for free...but I thought a treadmill would be smoother, better on my knees/ankles/back etc., and not dependent on the weather! :teeth:

Maybe after a couple of years with a decent treadmill, I will be better able to handle more of the activities offered from my local gym. Wish me luck! :)
