Ok, DH and I may be getting a treadmill. I need some input.

What do I need to look for?
What kind do you have?
How much was it/How much should we plan to spend?
Where did you get it?
Does it fold up or not?
Where do you keep it in your house?

I am 5'8" and DH is 6'1", so how long would our belt need to be? He will probably walk on it. I, on the other hand, will use it for running, and I have had knee/hip issues, so I want it to have some cushion.

Please help me out WISHers!!

Hi Allie!

I love my TM - it's a Nordic Track C2420. I think I paid about $1500 (on sale) for it at Sears. It has a large "bed" area, speeds up to 12 mph, inclines to 12%, and lots of bells and whistles that I never use. I do use the cup holder and fan feature all the time though! The model I have can be folded, but I never do. It is a permanent fixture in my family room, and is along one wall facing the TV and a curtain rod display of my medals. I hardly ever do any training outside as it is either too hot, too cold, too humid, too buggy, too windy, too dark or too something, so my TM gets a lot of use.

There are certainly a lot of choices out there. Good luck with your search!

We also have a Sole- got it at Dick's for $999.Love it! Well as much as you can love a treadmill!

Pat - Thanks for the input. We have a Sears here, and I know DH went and looked yesterday. We may go look today, and then I can look and see if they have that model. I do remember him saying that one had a fan, and that sounded nice since it would be upstairs in our bonus room.

Mike - Thanks for your input too. We have a Dick's so I may go check that out too. I've never heard of that brand, so thanks for the link.
UH, NO on the hilly Nashville training. :rotfl2: It's hard to believe that this time last week we were out there.

Linda
- Thanks! That is the price range we are trying to stay in, so maybe we can get lucky down here.

Our 20th wedding anniversary is on the 20th, so this is our gift to each other. I am hoping it is a gift that will keep on giving! ;)

Hey Allie,
First of all Happy Anniversary!
As for treadmills, although I hardly use it except for hill work now because I almost always go outside, but I love my NordicTrack treadmill. Actually bought it at Sears too. It is a fairly high end. Do not go cheap! Don't mean expensive, just don't buy a cheap one as you'll regret it. Expect to spend around $1,200+ for a pretty good one.

Get a deck that is long enough and wide enough for you. Even 2" in width makes all the difference in the world. Mine doesn't have all the bells and whistles but as long as it has incline, that is all you really need.

Go to Sears and Dick's and try them. Take your running shoes and give it a 5 minute spin. You will see the difference. Do not let the bells and whistles sway you. Belt, motor and incline are all you need.

enjoy,
Duane

Thanks Duane! That's what I wanted to know. I don't want to buy a "cheap" one that I will be disappointed in, but don't want to "blow" alot of money on stuff I won't use. I need a cup holder, and the fan seems nice, and I know I want a "cushy" belt so as not to bother my hip and knee. ;)

Sears had the NordicTrak on sale today!

Another NordicTrac fan here!! And, I bought it at Sears. Floor model. Paid $800 for a $1300 machine. I have been happy.

I love, love, LOVE my treadmill.

It is a PaceMaster Platinum Pro VR. I think I paid about $1,600. It has a downhill (-3%) setting as well as incline (+12%). It also has a great warranty. I don't know if the service charges are the same everywhere, but I had mine serviced when it was about 2 years old and for $185 I got a new motor, walking deck and tread and it's like brand new again.

It also has all sorts of programs that I never use. It can keep track of multiple users settings.

Same here. Paid $750 for a $1400 machine. Saved enough so I bought the 3 year warranty.

That is a nice feature a downhill setting.
