I have been working out on the treadmill for about 3 weeks now, trying to get back into shape to look good for all my pics at Disney.. anyway.. I have not lost a pound BUT I have lost inches off my body. I feel a difference on how my pants and tops and dresses fit.. when do you all think the pounds would come off.. I have stopped weighing myself because it is discouraging to me now to see a difference.

Anyone who has gone the treadmill route want to encourage me??
THANKS!

Lean muscle weighs more than fat. So if you are converting your flabby fat into lean muscle, your inches will be less, but your pounds may stay the same or (:scared1: ) INCREASE!! Don't worry!
How your clothes fit and how you feel is a better indicator of your BMI and health than your scale.
But man, it is nice to see the numbers go down!

Hang in there and keep it up!!!

Please don't take this negatively but 3 weeks would not be enough time to convert fat into muscle. It is odd that your scale has not budged in 3 weeks but if you are seeing a difference in your muscle tone and in your total inches then that is great!
I would encourage you to add some resistance exercises to your routine to build muscle. Free weights are great. I think it's really important to mix up your cardio also, jumping jacks, jump-rope, burpees, aerobics, martial-arts type exercise etc. Also squats and lunges to build and tone your leg muscles...it's all important.
Have you reviewed your eating habits since you started this regime? Could it be that you are eating more to fuel your body for the extra energy you need to do your workouts?
Main thing is that you are doing something - good for you and best of luck!:cheer2:

Thanks for the advise. I do a video with all those lunges and squats in them every second day and 25 minutes on the treadmill the opposite day (at 3.4 miles per hour) I have never been a big eater I eat special K for breakfast and a some soup for lunch a normal dinner and rarely snack so I can't see it being food that is the issue... I just find it odd that I have not lost a pound grrr talk about annoying I wanted to lose 20 pounds before we go but I have some serious catching up to do to meat that goal.

It is very odd that you haven't seen change on the scale (mischevious family member messing around with it?!?! LOL).
I did perk up when I read that you don't snack - I realize you probably meant that you don't eat "bad" snacks at night but (IMO) you should have two snacks between meals during the day. I also wonder how long Spcl K keeps you full in the morning.
I found that I would get hungry very soon after I ate it and would be reaching for something else by just after 0830 - I generally eat breakfast at 0630.
I eat a diet that is high protein, no sugar, no refined carbs. I also don't eat after 8pm. I go to bed at 10pm and get up at 0515 to work out (cardio), I work out at noon at the gym (free weights on alternate days) and then try to go for a walk after dinner.
Gee, why exactly am I not slimmer than I am!?!
Seriously, the gym at noon is only because I have nowhere to go during my lunch break and it keeps me out of the restaurants, the walk in the evening is with my DH (only thing he does) and the morning is to get my day started right.

Anyway - I am sure you don't care about my personal life, I was just telling you so that you knew I could understand where you are coming from.
We are going in early November so I have set some goal dates for myself and DH. First goal is 08Nov, the day we leave for DisneyWorld, then Christmas, then 14Feb, the day we leave on our cruise. Total goal is 18 pounds, roughly 1/3 each goal date.

Best of luck with whatever works for you.

I started running at the beginning of the year and had the same problem - My weight loss was going really slowly at first and I couldn't figure out why. My PT told me that running isn't the greatest exercise for weight loss. I can't remember his exact explaination but it had something to do with running only burning calories while you're running. We added in weight and resistance training a couple of months ago and I've really noticed a change! He also mentioned that I would have to increase my cardio/exercise to 5 hours a week before I really saw any changes. That said - my total weight loss has only been about 15 pounds but I've gone down 2 sizes. So I'm starting to think the numbers on the scale might not matter as much.

How often are you running? You could try running faster if you can handle it. Interval running is also great - for example try running faster for about 2 minutes and then walking moderately fast for 5 minutes.

Good luck!!
